Jack and Doris began their love story while still in high school. Following his graduation from Kingston High in 1942, Jack joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in the 45th Division, 157th Infantry Regiment, Cannon Company for over 2 years during World War II. Seeing action in the European theater, and wounded at Anzio Beachhead, Jack was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. Jack is fondly remembered for the love he had for his family. He made sure to mail birthday and Christmas cards to every family member and always ensured that they were received on time. In his free time, Jack enjoyed reading, golfing, playing cards, and watching any and all kinds of sports. He particularly enjoyed high school wrestling and was an avid and lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
