Local comedian debuts stand-up comedy album at Helium

Comedian Jake Mattera, a resident of Prospect Park, will debut a stand up comedy album live in-person at Helium Comedy Club, 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18 for Helium Records. Other comedians featured on the show include Delco’s Pat House, as well as Mary Radzinski, David James, Seamus Millar.

Mattera was a finalist at the Boston Comedy Festival and he is a 3x finalist at Helium Comedy’s Philly’s Phunniest competitio­n. He has acted in sketches that have appeared on Conan and he is featured regularly as a guest on WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show, The Q Show on Fox, and WMGK’s The John DeBella Show. He has been invited to perform at many prestigiou­s festivals all over the country, including: Big Sky Comedy Festival, Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, Limestone Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, HBO’s WICF, and more. He has opened for: Dave Attell, Nate Bargatze, Ron Funches, and Roy Wood Jr. among others.

Ridley High School Class of 1980 will hold its 40th reunion scheduled Saturday, Nov. 13 at Springfiel­d Country Club. Tickets will go on sale on May 1. Holy Myrrh-Bearers Church, 900 Fairview Road, Ridley Township, will host a community-wide Flea Market/Craft Fair and Slavic Food festival, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday June 12. Quinn hosts shredder, drug collection event for constituen­ts

Rep. Chris Quinn, R-168 of Middletown, will host a paper shredding and medication collection event for residents of the 168th Legislativ­e District this Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Penn State Brandywine, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Middletown.

Residents may drop off paper, file folders, note pads and records of any kind. There is no need to remove stapled, paper clips or rubber bands; however, plastic bags cannot be accepted. There is also a twobox limit.

The Delaware County Office of the District Attorney will have a mobile drop-off box to receive unused or expired prescripti­on or overthe-counter medication­s. Residents may stay in their cars when dropping off items.

The 168th Legislativ­e District includes the Delaware County municipali­ties of Media and Chester Heights boroughs, Middletown, Edgmont, Newtown, Upper Providence, and Thornbury townships as well as the Fifth Ward of Marple.
