Garnet Valley’s Albright wins gold in loaded 800

Garnet Valley’s Eric Albright and Radnor’s Chris Belz and Max Dooley put on a show in the 800-meter run at the Unionville Invitation­al Saturday.

The trio swept the top three places and turned in three of the top times in the state, according to pa.milesplit.com. Abright won in 1:55.57. Belz was second in 1:55.9 and Dooley took the bronze in 1:56.85. Those times rank seventh, ninth and 14th in Pennsylvan­ia.

Belz also took second in the 400, while Albright’s teammate Kevin Genthert placed second in the javelin with a personal best throw of 153-4.

Strath Haven’s Enrico Faccio won both hurdles events. Teammate Jed Liu was first in the long jump (21-3). Upper Darby won the 4 x 400 and the Royals’ George Okyne of Upper Darby was third in the 400. Kristian Praizner of Ridley finished second in the 300 hurdles. Josiah Bronkema of

Delco Christian placed second in the high jump. Tyler Klambara from Springfiel­d was third in the shot put and Academy Park took third in the 4 x 400.

At the Father Judge Relays: Daniel Munro and Brian Loeper highlighte­d a good day in the field for Penncrest. Munro won the pole vault with a personal best 14-6. Loeper was first in the javelin (134-0).

Ethan Fingerhut of Haverford earned a pair of medals. He led off the winning 4 x 800 relay team of Patrick Lawson, Alexson Songor and Quentin Ryan and placed third in the mile. Michael Powel took third in both the discus and shot put for the Lions.

Chester won the 4 x 100 and received third-place finishes from Walton Garnett and Jason Stone in the 400 and triple jump, respective­ly. Penn Wood took third in both the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Neo Vosschulte was a triple winner as Episcopal Academy topped Malvern Prep (274.5-201.5) and Haverford School (301.5155.5). Malvern defeated Haverford School, 248.5-177.5.

Vossschult­e won the 100 and 200 and teamed with Miguel Pena, Na’Rone Rayborn and Jeo Daniel to take first in the 4 x 400 relay. A.J. Sanford won the 800 and led off the winning 4 x 800 relay team that included Colin Stewart, Ben Strathmary and Andrew Innis to lead Haverford School.

Girls Track

Alyssa Bloxton and Morgan Elliott led the way as Haverford swept all three relay races at the Father Judge Relays. Bloxton and Elliott teamed with Maura Timoney and Mackenzie Gillespie to win the 4 x 800 and joined Aubrey Leneweaver and Erin Olsavsky for a victory in the 4 x 400.

Maddie Gilliespie, Erin O’Brien, Tess Durfee and Tessa Weidman teamed up to win the 4 x 100. Timoney also was second in the mile, while Abby Thompson took second in the javelin for the Fords.

Penncrest’s Ashley Rodgers earned gold in the javelin and shot put. Julia Scholtz was third in the 800 for the Lions. Penn Wood’s Nevaeh Davis placed second in the 100 and third in the 200. Alina LaForest of Chester was second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 400. Teammate Jiya Clayton placed third in the 300 hurdles. Taylor Johnson from Bonner-Prendergas­t was third in the 100.

At the Unionville Invitation­al: Teghan Sydnor won the 100 hurdles to highlight a strong day for Strath Haven. Alexa Brown claimed silver in the shot put. Maggie Forbes was third in the 800 and the Panthers earned bronze in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

Alyssa Wert of Garnet Valley placed third in the 400 and Ridley was second in the 4 x 400 and third in the 4 x 800.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Katie Bryan set the school record in the pole vault (9-0) and won the shot put (31-9) to lead Episcopal Academy past Notre Dame (249-163), Agnes Irwin (267-57) and Baldwin (275-89).

Kat Harrar and Laila Williamson were double winners for the Churchwome­n. Harrar captured the triple jump. Willamson claimed victory in the 200 and the trio teamed with Kamora Helton to take first in the 4 x 100.

Gabriella Becchilung­o (400), Kayleigh Calvert (800), Maura Brady (1,600), Therese Trainer (3,200), Emma McGuinn (100 hurdles), Rachel Warren (high jump) and Grace Galia (long jump) were the individual winners for Notre Dame.
