Fords’ Malone, Mehl and Willis honor Taviano’s memory

The 10VE cup is staying at The Haverford School.

Teddy Malone, Avi Mehl and Willis Burt collected two goals and one assist each as The Haverford School topped Garnet Valley, 13-4, in the second 10VE Cup Saturday afternoon.

The game is played in memory of Kip Taviano, who played for the Fords and lived in the Garnet Valley School District. Taviano died in an automobile accident in 2013.

Wells Finn also had two goals and Ryan DiRocco added one goal and two assists for the Fords. Ryan Nealon paced Garnet Valley with two goals.

In other nonleague action:

UNIONVILLE 7, HAVERFORD HIGH 6 » Quinn Carson paced the Fords with four goals. Nikolas McKendry and Curran Kranick added one goal each.

UPPER MERION 15, INTERBORO 9 » John Scibello tallied five times and assisted on three other goals.

Logan Sanders and Konnor Oreskovich chipped in with two goals each for the Bucs.

In the Central League: RADNOR 11, CONESTOGA 7 » Ryan Goldstein scored three goals and three assists, and Damien Raimondo added two and two as Radnor used a five-goal third quarter to pull away. Charlie Bernicker added two goals, and Chris Begier supplied a goal and two helpers.

Baseball

Eric Genther, Jonny Flieder, Mike Tallarida and Jake Stacey all went deep in the fifth inning to propel Haverford School to a 12-4 nonleague victory over Conestoga.

Genther slugged a three-run homer, Tallarida ripped a tworun shot while Flieder and Stacey belted solo blasts in a seven-run outburst that broke open a onerun game. Tallarida and Flieder finished with three RBIs each.

MARPLE NEWTOWN 10, INTERBORO 0 »

Justin Brennan and Dan Peel combined on a one-hitter for the Tigers. Peel allowed the only hit and fanned three in four innings to get the win. Peel whiffed three in his three innings of work. Dillon Can went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to pace the offense.

Davis had the only hit for the Bucs.

DELCO CHRISTIAN 13, RENAISSANC­E ACADEMY 1 »

Catcher Josh Freiling slugged a three-run homer and drove in five runs while going 3-for-3 for the Knights. Josh Dell’Arciprete and Robert Lucas added two hits each, and Stephan Wisnewski struck out eight over five innings to get the win.

UNIONVILLE 10, HAVERFORD 0 »

Sean Matson, Nick Diehl and Joey Perrotta combined on a no-hitter for the Longhorns. Matson struck out eight and walked two in four innings to get the win.

Girls Lacrosse

Mia George, Kate Stanton and Annalyn Pompetti combined for 11 goals to pace Penncrest to a 1211 victory over Haverford in the Central League.

George led the way with five goals, while Stanton and Pompetti tallied three goals each. Sophie Pasniak came up with eight saves in goal for the Lions.

Rory Turner made 11 saves for the Fords, while Jackie Heinerichs (three goals, two assists, five draw controls), Izzy McGarvey (two goals, two assists), Emma Rowland (two goals, one assist, five draw controls, three ground balls) and Grace Hetznec (two goals, one assist) showed the way on offense.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Dani Falcone had four goals, two assists, eight draw controls and four caused turnovers to help the Irish hold off the Churchwome­n. Ava Bleckley added five goals, one assist and four draw controls while Katie Onderdonk contribute­d three goals and seven draw controls.

GREAT VALLEY 19, MARPLE NEWTOWN 4 » Kyle Goia netted four goals to lead the Tigers. Olivia Ebersole added one goal and one assist.

In nonleague action:

RUSTIN 12, RIDLEY 11 » Hailey Shanahan topped the Green Raiders with five goals and one assists. Emily Liberio (one assist) and Sydney Verlingher­i pitched in with two goals each.

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 13, VILLA MARIA 2 » Kiley Mottice collected five goals and two assists and Keri Barnett added four goals and one helper to help the Patriots (11-2) bounce back from a loss to Radnor. Sophie Kevlan made six saves in goal for Carroll.
