Hoff’s toss boss Nyugen silences the Wolfpack

Twan Nyugen was spinning them mean Sunday, pitching Hunt’s Hoffs to a sweep of the Tumble Inn Wolfpack, 12-2 and 8-0.

Evan Steinman had two hits, including a double and two RBis, Derek Hummel had three hits, and Craig Hermansen and Nick Tokonitz had a couple of base knocks and runs scored each in Hunt’s first conquest.

The Hoff-brows didn’t need to be so offensivel­y focused in the second one as Nyugen flipped through the occasional­ly seen Millennium League shutout. Neverthele­ss, Steinman and Mike Melazzo (triple) had a couple of hits and Tokonitz had two doubles in the nightcap.

Rob Dix helped his pitching effort with two hits, and Pat Dix also had two hits, including a walk-off single with the bases loaded.

In Game 2, Todd Becker had four hits, two runs scored and three RBIs. Pat O’Leary went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

KNIGHTS 15-15, SANTINO’S 2-4 » Christian DiGalbo racked up five runs knocked in and Charlie Reyes knocked one outta here to get the Knights on their horses in the opener.

Anthony DiGalbo went deep in Game 2, and with “everyone collecting three hits each,” it was easy pickings for pitcher Mike Labuski.

PRECISION CHIMNEY 9-12, CANES 5-6 » Buddy Fisher went 3-for-3, and John Lundell had a pair of hits to help the Sweeps dust off the Canes in the lid-lifter. For the nightcap, Dave Powell had two hits and Bryan Goodman went 3-for-3 to nail down the doublehead­er. Chuck Brooks had four hits on the day.

ZLS/1847 FINANCIAL 13-10, UPLAND A.C. 2-5 » Winning pitcher Ryan Duke helped himself by going 3-for-3, while Dan Lucas and Brian Leon matched that production to get the money men on their way. In the second game, Ryan Tecco went 3-for-3, and Ryan Duke backed up his pitching with two hits.

GALLE ELECTRIC SHOCKERS 296, HEAVY HITTERS 13-23 » It was a split of the doublehead­er of two of the best football teams in the Millennium League.

John Galle went 5-for-5, Brad Yori added four hits and Scott Abdo and Andrew Kirk both launched three-run homers in the Shockers-ing first game.

But those Heavy boys came back in the nightcap. Joe Duffy, Steve Cashin and Mike Bucella all had six hits in the DH for the HH.

MRC 10-10, TUMBLE INN 0-0 » Not sure who was keeping the book in these games, but... Reportedly, AJ Welk and Ryan Dolga (homer) had two hits each while Joe Ianuzzi, Mike Flaherty and Jon Fanelli all had three hits in the first one. Welk, Tom Osenbach and Dolga had three hits each in support of shut ‘em down pitcher Fanelli, who reportedly did face hitters.

TUMBLE INN TOUCANS 23-18, MAXI’S 6-17 » Mark Nevins went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Jason Aikens had a pair of doubles among three hits and Rob Benigni pitched in a pair of welltimed hits as the Toucans crowed about their Game 1 win. Benigni knocked in three runs with his two hits, helping himself to a mound win.

In the nightcap, Sean Menickella (3-for-4) had a gamewinnin­g RBI triple in the seventh to send the Toucs out for the cold ones happy. Aikens had two triples and four RBIs, and Nevins doubled, homered and had four RBIs.

AMSETT 20-23, RUSSO’S 5-22 » These old folks were too tired after that big second game to report details.

BEHMKE CONSTRUCTI­ON 19, SAWLOON 18 » This was the second of a doublehead­er. Somebody please place a call to the Saw and tell them the game report laws.

Anyway, Tony Pearson and Jon Poole each went 4-for-4, Tommy Nardelli and Mike Malkoun each did them one better with five hits in five trips.

Malkoun knocked in the game-winner with a basesloade­d bingle, and Dave Yarnall survived the seventh to get the win for Behmke and made sure everyone knew it.

Oh and did we say details of the first game weren’t known?

Baseball

Mark Werner supplied the walk-off hit as the Springfiel­d Cardinals recovered from a four-run deficit to beat the Clifton Orioles, 7-6, Sunday in the Delco MSBL.

Dan Carr, Jay Aikens and Dave Shell provided the pitching.
