Mottice’s six goals pace Carroll to win over Notre Dame

Archbishop Carroll’s Kiley Mottice filled up the stat sheet Wednesday.

Mottice produced six goals, one assist and three draw controls in the Patriots’ 15-7 win over Academy of Notre Dame in nonleague lacrosse action.

Keri Barnett (three draw controls) and Emma Talego (two assists) added three goals apiece for the Patriots (12-3), who bounced back after Tuesday’s loss to another Inter-Ac League foe, Penn Charter.

Karli Dougherty added three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while goalie Sophie

Kevtan finished with nine saves in the winning effort. Dani Falcone and Ava Bleckley had three goals each for the Irish.

In the Central League: SPRINGFIEL­D 9, STRATH HAVEN 9 » The Cougars and Panthers lasted two overtimes Tuesday evening, but a winner couldn’t be decided.

Haven led 9-6 with 5:08 to play in the second half following Danielle McNeely’s second goal of the contest. Springfiel­d rallied and eventually knotted the score on Erin DeStefano’s goal with 57 seconds to go.

Both offenses had chances in the overtime periods, but stellar goalkeepin­g of Springfiel­d’s Rachel Conran (14 saves) and Erin Spaulding (10 saves) kept the score where it was.

DeStefano, Mia Valerio and Gabby Rizzio each recorded a hat trick for the Cougars. Devon Maillet netted three goals for the Panthers.

In the Del Val League: INTERBORO 15, CHICHESTER 12 » Sophomore middie Kylie Mea produced six goals and Noelle Maginnie added five for the Bucs, who received a 12-save performanc­e by goalie Mekenna Balawejder.

Avery McLaughlin led Chi with six goals.

In the Ches-Mont League: DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 15, SUN VALLEY 5 » Carli Komorowski and Alena Catka each scored twice for the Vanguards.

Baseball

Bonner-Prendergas­t’s Kevin McGonigle launched his fifth home run of the season and finished 3-for-3 with four runs scored as the Friars pummeled Father Judge, 14-1, in a Catholic League game.

Kevin Henrich went 2-for-3 with a three-run dinger and Ryan Novelli also went yard for B-P (103). Michael Anderson went 4-for-4 with five ribbies and Austin Cannon added a two-run single.

Girls Golf

Stef Bonini and Heather Styslinger both carded rounds of 42 in Academy of Notre Dame’s 226-247 victory over Agnes Irwin at Overbrook Golf Club.

The Irish (8-0, 7-0) were led by Lily Press’ 44 and Leslie Forman’s personal best 45 score.

Boys Lacrosse

Nick Mormando tallied the lone goal for Interboro in a 17-1 Pioneer Athletic Conference defeat at Perkiomen Valley.
