Law enforcement, IBEW hosting ‘Shot for Scott’
UPPER CHICHESTER » The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 654 and local law enforcement agencies are hosting a “Shot for Scott” vaccine event next week in honor of Delaware County Park Police Superintendent Scott Mahoney, who died suddenly from COVID-19 complications last month.
“Scott texted many of his brothers and sisters in blue while he was in the ICU asking us to get vaccinated,” said Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #27 2nd Vice President Chris Eiserman in a release. “This day is in honor of him and in honor of his wishes. Come out and at least take the time to learn more about the vaccine.”
The free vaccine clinic will take place from noon to 6 p.m. June 9 at the IBEW Local 654 Hall at 3729 Chichester Avenue, and is open to all public safety workers and IBEW members.
Delaware County Medical Advisor Dr. Lisa O’Mahony will be on hand to answer questions and address concerns, and the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be administered to those who wish to receive it.
Mahoney, 47, began his career in law enforcement as a patrolman for the Delaware County Park Police in 1992 and was sworn in as chief in 2019. He also worked as a parttime patrolman for Aldan, Clifton Heights, Colwyn and Millbourne, as a volunteer firefighter for Upper Darby Fire Company #3, and was the founding member of the Delaware County Police Emerald Society.

loved ones and members of law enforcement to get vaccinated in the days leading up to his death.
“I was supposed to get the vaccine a few different times, but things kept coming up,” he wrote in a text to Eiserman. “Tell these guys to get the shot.”
The event is being coordinated by the FOP, Delaware County Police Chief’s Association, the Delaware County District
Attorney’s Office, Delaware County Council, and International Association of Firefighters Locals 1400 and 2493 in partnership with the IBEW.
Refreshments including a lunch buffet will be provided. Those who receive the vaccine will also have their name entered into a raffle to win two $1,000 cash prizes, a Yeti cooler, and tickets to a Philadelphia Union Soccer game.
No registration is needed. Onduty police, fire, and emergency services personnel coming to the clinic will be given priority and will not need to wait in line.
