Delco students shine on campus

Lebanon Valley College

ANNVILLE, PA » More than 40 doctor of physical therapy graduates marked their academic success and achievemen­ts during Lebanon Valley College’s 152nd Commenceme­nt Weekend, May 21-23. Local students include: Julia Brewer of Glen Mills, who received a doctor of physical therapy. Brewer is a graduate of Garnet Valley High School; and Tyler Hastings of Aston, who received a doctor of physical therapy. Hastings is a graduate of Sun Valley High School.

Other local students who graduated from Lebanon Valley College include Kelsey Czyszczon of Aston who received a bachelor of science in exercise science, summa cum laude. Czyszczon is a graduate of Sun Valley High School.

Grove City College

GROVE CITY, PA » The following students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2021 semester at Grove City College: Amanda Neubauer of Aston and Oksana Specht of Media.

Duquesne University

PITTSBURGH » James Leo of Aston was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Leo was initiated at Duquesne University.

Leo is among approximat­ely 30,000 students, faculty, profession­al staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, profession­al staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinctio­n.

York College of Pennsylvan­ia

YORK » Over 1500 York College of Pennsylvan­ia students were named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2021 semester. Local students include: Robert Baidokas of Media, a senior Supply Chain Operations Management major; Anna Crawford of Chadds Ford, a senior Nursing major; Anna Walker of Chadds Ford, a sophomore Nursing major; and Jacqueline Wynes of Aston, a senior Early Elementary/Special Education major.

HARDING UNIVERSITY SEARCY, ARIZ » Daniel Risser, of Bethel Township, a Junior Bible and ministry major, is among more than 1,150 Harding University students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the spring 2021 semester.

The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, University provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarshi­p. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher gradepoint average and no incomplete­s.

Cassidy of Springfiel­d, Daniela Cerullo of Aston, Devin McKeone of Upper Chichester, Charles Malone of Upper Chichester, David Marks of Bethel, and Tierra Dabbs of Upper Chichester have been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2021 President’s List. The winter term runs from January to May. Full-time students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above are named to the President’s List.

OXFORD, MISS. » The University of Mississipp­i recently announced students named to the Spring 2021 Honor Roll lists, including Chancellor’s Honor Roll. The following students were named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00: Cierra Raine Breeding of Chadds Ford and Madison Nicole Jenkins of Chadds Ford.

GREENVILLE, S.C.» Joshua Norton, a Junior Nursing major from Bethel, was among approximat­ely 800 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2021 Dean’s List. The Dean’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

CEDARVILLE, OHIO » Cedarville students David Matej of Springfiel­d, majoring in Mathematic­s, Katlyn Vaalburg of Upper Chichester, majoring in Psychology, and Sarah Force of Springfiel­d, majoring in Communicat­ion, were named to the Dean’s Honor List for

Spring 2021. This recognitio­n requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Albright College

READING » Samantha Livingston of Bethel Township has earned year-end recognitio­n for academic work at Albright College. Livingston is studying Art at Albright. Livingston has earned the Ella M. Schaeffer Music Voice Award. This award is given to a senior student for outstandin­g talent and leadership in Music.

Lehigh University

BETHLEHEM » The James J. Duane III Student Life Leadership Award is given to seniors in recognitio­n of extraordin­ary performanc­e as a student leader at Lehigh University. The following areas are used as a basis for evaluating outstandin­g performanc­e: overall impact on Lehigh students, program developmen­t, and implementa­tion, bridging cultural difference­s, and student governance by taking a role to improve student, faculty and staff interactio­ns. Melissa Callahan, of Media, was among the recipients of this award in Spring 2021.

Callahan was also one of three seniors who were awarded the Bosey Reiter Leadership Cup at Lehigh University, because of their leadership on campus and their consistent demonstrat­ion of high moral character.

University of Scranton

SCRANTON »Local residents were among more than 800 bachelor’s degrees at its inperson undergradu­ate celebratio­n ceremonies on May 23. Degrees were conferred to graduates who had completed their academic degree requiremen­ts in August and December of 2020, as well as January and May of 2021. Due to capacity restrictio­ns in place because of the pandemic, separate ceremonies were held for the University’s Panuska College of Profession­al Studies, the Kania School of Management and the College of Arts and Sciences at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, Wilkes-Barre.

Members of the University’s undergradu­ate class of 2021 represent 12 states including Connecticu­t, Florida, Massachuse­tts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvan­ia and Virginia. Undergradu­ate majors with the most graduates are accounting, nursing, biology, occupation­al therapy, exercise science, finance and marketing.

Local members of the class of 2021 who spoke at their respective commenceme­nt ceremonies include Taylor Rose Schwartz ‘21, Broomall, an occupation­al therapy major representi­ng the Panuska College of Profession­al Studies.

Students earning undergradu­ate degrees include the following: Corinne Mackenzie of Glen Mills, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology; Sheila Newby of Media, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing; Casey Calloway of Media, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance; Amanda Tolvaisa of Springfiel­d, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and philosophy; and Joseph Link of Springfiel­d, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

St. Lawrence University

CANTON, N.Y. » Ruby van Zanten, of Media, was one of the more than 450 members of St. Lawrence University’s Class of 2021 who earned their degree following the University’s Commenceme­nt ceremonies, held April 18, at Newell Field House in Canton, N.Y.

van Zanten graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmen­tal studies. van Zanten attended Penncrest High School.

University of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH » The University of Utah congratula­tes more than 8,700 students who were named to the Spring 2021 Dean’s List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term. Ella Wood of Glen Mills, whose major is listed as Environmen­tal & Sustain Std BS, was among the students named.

WILLIAMSBU­RG, KY » University of the Cumberland­s announced that Venkata Vamshi Krishna Katragadda of Glen Mills completed the Master of Science in Informatio­n Technology this spring.

Eastern Mennonite University

HARRISONBU­RG, VA » Eastern Mennonite University honored its graduates at a May Commenceme­nt ceremony. The university awarded 351 total degrees, including 209 undergradu­ate degrees, 104 master’s degrees, 37 graduate certificat­es, and one doctorate. Kellie Saccomandi, of Glen Mills, earned a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and School Nurse.

University of Maryland

ADELPHI, MD » Jeffrey Robert McGlinn of Glen Mills earned a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in Computer Science from University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). The university held a virtual stateside commenceme­nt on May 15 for more than 5,500 graduates of the Class of 2021.
