Oschell, McNeely, Frattone pitch Inter-Ac into CC semis

The goal of every team in the annual Carpenter Cup is to get to Citizens Bank Park for the semifinals and, hopefully, the final.

The Inter-Ac/Independen­t team is about to live that dream.

Fran Oschell (Malvern Prep), Colby McNeely (Haverford School) and Lucca Frattone (Friends Central) combined on a five-hit shutout to send the Inter-Ac League to Monday’s semifinal round with a 2-0 triumph over Delaware North at the UYA Showcase Field at FDR Park.

The trio combined for 12 strikeouts and no walks. Oschell tossed the first three innings. He allowed two hits and struck out six. McNeely pitched the middle three frames and fanned four without allowing a hit. He was awarded the victory. Frattone scattered three hits and whiffed two in the final three innings.

Luke Buscaglia got the InterAc/Independen­ts

on the board when he doubled home Friends’ Central teammate Jack Donahoe in the top of the eighth inning. Eric Genther (Haverford School) singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning to make it 2-0.

Dylan Posencheg (Friends Central) and Chuck Norton (Springside Chestnut Hill) had the other hits for Inter-Ac/Independen­ts. Posencheg’s hit was a triple.

Inter-Ac/Independen­ts will take on Tri-Cape, a 15-7 winner over Bux-Mont, in the first semifinal Monday at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is 9:30. The championsh­ip game is slated for 11 a.m. Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

In Mid-County Senior action: DELCO STEAKS OF BROOMALL GATORS 5, HAVERFORD 1 » Brendan Ricciardi, Rick Collings and Bryan Mutz all went 2-for-4 to pace a nine-hit attack for the Gators Thursday night. Vinny Greco fanned four and allowed one hit in the first four innings to get the win. Collings whiffed seven in the last three frames to earn the save. NORWOOD/INTERBORO 12, SPRINGFIEL­D 2 » Jake Finley had three hits and three runs scored, while Tyler Davis and Joe Sheridan each chipped in a hit and an RBI in this five-inning victory.

Finley struck out six and Joe Sheridan had seven K’s in relief.

Senior Legion

Brian Fitzpatric­k’s successful squeeze bunt put Upper Darby ahead to stay in a 3-2 win over Narberth in eight innings. UD is now 6-1 on the season.

Max Pomerantz pitched the win by Jake Franzini and Sam Chestnut knocked in the other runs for Upper Darby.
