HISTORY LESSON

Well, since the price of gasoline now appears to be the major determining factor in what makes a great president, it looks like Herbert Hoover was the greatest ever. In 1931, gas was 17 cents a gallon! In 1940 it was 18 cents, so Franklin Roosevelt is a close second. Of course, there are those who would argue that the governing records of those two men tell the opposite story, but let’s just leave it at that.

JOHN IN HAVERTOWN

A THREAT TO AMERICA

To “Lock Him Up:” I agree with what you wrote in Sound Off. I will not stop talking about Donald Trump. Why? Trump tried to steal the 2020 presidential election and it was his supporters who attacked the Capitol Building on Jan. 6. Almost a year after the 2020 election, Trump is still spreading the Big Lie that the election was stolen from him. To make matters worse, there is the possibility that Trump may run for president in 2024. Donald Trump is a threat to our democracy, our Constitution and the rule of law!

FILL ‘ER UP

I see the right would like to blame Joe Biden for the price of gas. I took a look on Google and I found that the majority of millionaires are Republicans. Now what would be the best way to discredit the president than blaming him for the price of gas? Millionaires care very little about the price of gas; however, the poor people in this country depend very much. Most oil barons are millionaires and it seems that they are fixing the price of gas!

GREASING THE SKIDS

To ‘Blame The Oil Companies,” aka “Tinicum Swamp Rat:” Presidents can’t change oil prices, but they can influence them. Especially with prices now. We were oil independent. That means we got most, if not all, our oil from U.S. oil production. With the pipeline and restrictions imposed this year, it has influenced prices.

NO MERCY

SP

I hate listening to the news now. Looks like another police officer was shot in Philadelphia. And I think it’s time that the police should start arming themselves with machine guns and when they start coming after you, take them out.

LOCKED AND LOADED

I don’t care what anybody says. As a 45-year gun enthusiasts, anyone knows the proper handling a firearm. Anyone will tell you that when someone hands you a firearm the first thing you do is check to see if it’s loaded. That’s a fact. If Alec Baldwin handles guns frequently it’s his responsibility to ensure that the firearm is not loaded.

MORE JEFF, LESS CHRISSIE

I just wanted to comment on Jeff Edelstein’s opinion in the Tuesday’s paper and say how much I really like it. I like everything he writes. You should have more of him and less of Christine Flowers. But anyway on another note I called in before about the flag. Did someone in my community say the flag is flying? I don’t know if they’re trying to make a statement. It’s all ripped up to shreds. It’s hanging from their house and flying around. So if they want to make a statement, why don’t they? You know do it some other way that I find that to be very nasty. So please print this and thank you so much.

THE BEAUTY OF DELCO

I’m calling in regards to “Down for the Count” and your comment about Delaware

County. I don’t know where you live, but my part of Delaware County is still beautiful and the area that I that I bought in is still lovely. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

ALL FOR THE RICH

The big rich corporations in this country are backed by the Republican Party for the rich. They backed the oil companies, the pharmaceutical companies and all the other banks. It’s Republican so the fault is because everything is so high. They have been putting down the working people in the poor people for years. They don’t pay them enough up there with corporate jobs. It’s a Republican Party that has destroyed this country.
