Florida man pleads ‘no contest’ in child assault case
and corruption of minors, both misdemeanors, for allegedly touching a 6-year-old girl indecently more than a dozen times.
Donald Kalin, 62, of Parkland, was charged after the girl divulged the alleged assaults to a parent, according to an affidavit of probable cause for his arrest written by Radnor Township Detective Jonathan Jagodinski.
The girl told victim advocate and forensic interviewer Lauren Guenther at the Children’s Advocacy Center in April 2020 that Kalin touched her approximately 17 times with his fingers. The first incident took place through her underwear, but she was not wearing anything in subsequent incidents, the girl said.
Kalin did not touch her with any other part of his body, according to the affidavit, but she said the touching hurt. He allegedly told the girl not tell anyone else or she would be in trouble. She did eventually confide in her mother and grandmother, according to the affidavit.
The assaults allegedly took place at the home of Kalin’s business associate in Radnor. Kalin told investigators during Zoom interviews from Florida that he travels to Pennsylvania from Florida every three or four weeks, but denied ever touching the girl inappropriately. He said she is “very creative” and can “sensationalize a situation.”
Kalin, represented by defense counsel Robert Datner, faces up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine when he is sentenced April 5 by Common Pleas Court Judge Mary Alice Brennan. Assistant District Attorney Diane Horn is prosecuting.
