Ridley’s Millison beats OT bell, beats Kennett

Reece Millison found the back of the net with two seconds to go in overtime, lifting the Ridley boys lacrosse team to a 10-9 win over Kennett Saturday.

Millison, Owen Bosak, Sean Kelly and Luke Showalter all scored two goals for the Green Raiders. Showalter assisted on the gamewinnin­g goal.

Sean Righter made 10 saves in net. Bosak and Kelly combined for 19 of 23 faceoff wins.

MARPLE NEWTOWN 19, DEVON PREP 4»

Brian Box exploded for six goals and two assists as the Tigers rolled. Joey Yukenevitc­h (five assists), Charlie Box (four assists), Cooper Conroy, Damien Bogsch and Rob Wagner all contribute­d a pair of goals.

Bryan Seavey supplied four goals and Ty Gougler went for a hat trick and one assist to lead the Cougars.

Aidan Kreydt added two goals and one helper, while Ryan O’Connor contribute­d a goal and two assists.

Girls Lacrosse

The defending PIAA Class 2A champions opened their 2022 season in familiar fashion.

Kiley Mottice racked up six goals and four assists to power Archbishop Carroll over Downingtow­n East, 17-5.

Emma Talago tossed in three goals and three assists for the Patriots. Goalie Briget Robinson turned aside seven shots.

The Lions jumped out to leads of 7-0 and 14-4. Adisyn Bernhardt and Kathryn Harding tallied four goals apiece as nine players had at least one goal. Kenzie Grant excelled on defense while goalies Sophie Pasnak and Sara Knasiak played well manning the pipes.

EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 8, GARNET VALLEY 7 » EA senior co-captain Bella Piselli scored the unassisted game-winner with a second to play in regulation. Maura Irish and Brooke Stocku recorded two goals apiece, while Alexis Ventresca added a goal, an assist and eight draw controls for the Churchwome­n.

Mia Raucci, Maddie Shoemaker and Kate Stankavage all produced two goals for the Jaguars. Mak Butler finished with nine saves. Boys Tennis

Marti Szabo, Kyle Smith and Jason Ehrlich won their singles matches as Marple Newtown blanked Academy Park, 5-0.

In doubles action, No. 1 Jared Kaplan and Patrick Lingle downed John Stevens and Owen Nelson 6-4, 6-4.

RADNOR 7, SPRING-FORD 0 » Ariston Fonseca won first singles with a 6-0, 6-3 decision. Hyeonjin Kim and Antonio Fidelibus also won in straight sets for the Raptors.

In the third doubles match, Arav Menon and Moah Movsowitz claimed a hard-fought 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3) triumph.

Baseball

Perkiomen Valley plated four runs in the ninth innings en route to an 11-7 win over Haverford School. Jimmy Davey had three hits and Jake LaRocca and Colby McNeely each had a pair of knocks for Haverford. Fred Jordan threw six solid frames of relief, striking out six and allowing two runs.

LOWER MERION 10, RIDLEY 6 » Mike Happersett got the opening day start and was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two walks for the Green Raiders, but the Aces scored four runs in the ninth for the win.
