Pa. Veterans Museum celebrates Armed Forces Day on Saturday
MEDIA » The Pennsylvania Veterans Museum, located in the lower level of the historic Media Armory, 12 E. State St., will be open noon to 5 p.m. on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 21, and feature special displays from the American Revolution to World War II. Admission is always free at the museum and everyone, of all ages, is welcome.
The special event will be one day only and should not be missed. Refreshments will be served.
Re-enactors from the Revolutionary War, World I, World War II Airborne, Army and Navy will be bringing living history alive. Displays of armament, medical equipment, and supplies from these wars will be featured. Armed Forces Day was established on Aug. 31, 1949, by then-Secretary of Defense, Louis Johnson, to replace separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days. It was first celebrated on May 20, 1950. Armed Forces Day honors all who currently serve and have served, on both active duty and in the reserves.

Delaware County Press Club ends season with happy hour event
The Delaware County Press Club will celebrate the conclusion of a successful season with a Happy Hour event at The Towne Hall in The Towne House, 117 Veterans Square, Media, 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. The Happy Hour ticket price includes live music entertainment, appetizer stations, and a cash bar.
The Happy Hour also features a look at The Towne House “then and now,” as the Club takes a trip down memory lane. A slideshow presentation highlighting many of the Club’s past events at The Towne House will kick off the Happy Hour followed by a private tour of the five unique dining spaces: The Towne House, farm-to-table where modern meets nostalgia; The Shebeen, an intimate pub with traditional Irish cuisine; Idlewild, an open-air courtyard; The Colony Cocktail Club, a sophisticated lounge; and The Towne Hall, a versatile event space. The end-of-season event will also include a brief overview of the Club’s 2021-2022 season; recognition of the outgoing board members; introduction of the incoming board members for the 2022-2023 season; announcement of the four recipients of the Club’s endowed scholarships at Penn State University, Temple University, and Delaware County Community College; and presentation of the Club’s annual financial award. The annual award rotates among colleges and universities in Delaware County offering Communications studies majors where permanent endowments honoring past Press Club members do not exist. This year, Cabrini University will receive the award.
All Press Club events are open to the public. Tickets for the Happy Hour event are $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers and walk-ins. Reservations are recommended but guests may also pay by cash, check, or credit card at the door. Masks are recommended when not eating or drinking. Volunteers needed to clean up Green Lawn Cemetery
The Green Lawn Cemetery Restoration Project will host a grass cutting, weed wacking and cleanup effort at Green Lawn Cemetery, 2500 Concord Road, Chester Township, beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday May 21. For information on how to support this effort, call 302-544-0726.
Holy Spirit Lutheran Church holds strawberry festival

Lansdowne Folk Club presents final concert of season
Singer-songwriter Shanna in a Dress, with special guest Bruce Carroll, will perform at the Lansdowne Folk Club’s final concert of the season, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the Twentieth Century Club, 84 S. Lansdowne Ave., Lansdowne. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 when purchased in advance online or with an advanced phone reservation and $25 without an advance reservation. Tickets are on sale now.

Concerts at the Lansdowne Folk Club will resume on September with The Black Feathers.
