RADNOR » Ryan Carr was kicking himself after he allowed a two-out run in the top of the seventh inning of a Main Line Senior Legion first-round playoff game Tuesday evening.

Picking up for starter Andrew Barabasi, who gave the Wolverines six fantastic frames, Carr retired the first two batters he faced before Concord rallied to score a big insurance run.

Carr played third base, stole bases and handled courtesy runner duties. He added “clutch hitter” to his on-field duties when he delivered the game-tying, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh.

“When I came to bat I was like, I need to get a hit here,” Carr said. “I’ve been cold for a while … so it feels good to get going again.”

Two hitters later Wilys Silvers smoked a pitch to deep center, scoring Carr and lifting Wayne to an incredible 5-4 win.

Wayne plays at Upper Darby in the winners bracket Wednesday. Concord moves to the losers bracket of the double elimination tournament.

After watching Carr hit a bomb, Silvers was excited for the opportunity to walk it off for Wayne.

“The pitcher was throwing a good speed,” Silvers said. “I knew going in that I was going to smoke it.”

Jack Jordan, who popped out in foul territory for the second out, knew Silvers wouldn’t disappoint.

“I told (Silvers) before my at bat, ‘You’re going to walk it off,'” Jordan said. “I’m so glad that Wilys pulled through.”

Maybe the secret to Wayne’s seventh-inning rally was the appearance of coach Mark Jordan (Jack’s dad) who returned from managing Wayne’s Junior Legion team to coach third base in the seventh. Coach Jordan was soon busy waving runners home.

“It’s the Mark Jordan effect,” Carr said.

Barbarsi gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits and struck out nine in six innings.

“My first two innings were a bullpen and then I started feeling good,” he said.

Concord had a 3-0 lead after two innings. Anil Dadhich ripped an RBI double and Alex Maillie knocked in a run with a single. Wayne got a run back in the third when Harry Faragalli stole home on the backend of a double steal. Eddie Kohn smacked an RBI single in the fifth to make it 3-2.

Wayne is one of the youngest teams in the league this year.

The majority of the roster in the 19-and-under league includes rising high school juniors.

“Most of the guys are JV players, not including Jack (Pachella) and Brady (Roselle), who both already graduated,” said Jack Jordan, who had a single and threw a perfect strike from center to nail a runner tagging from third on a fly ball. “I’m just glad that we get to have this experience.”

NARBERTH 11, HAVERFORD 7 » Narberth scored three times in the fifth inning and six runs in the sixth, and then withstood a seventh-inning rally by the Heat to remain in the winners bracket of the double-elimination tournament

Henry Rendle and Alex Frankel drove in two runs each for Narberth, which visits secondseeded Broomall-Newtown Wednesday. Justin Spiegler and Ben Wolf added two hits and two runs scored each.

Brendan Dougherty, Brendan Liney and Colin McDonald did most of the damage for the Heat. Dougherty went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Liney was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored, while McDonald had one hit, an RBI and a run scored out of the third position. The Heat play the loser of the game between Narberth and BroomallNewtown on Thursday.
