The only two vehicle fatalities recorded by state police over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend took place in the area covered by Troop K, which includes Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, according to data released Monday.

Requests for additional information on the fatalities were not immediately answered, so it was unclear Monday whether either took place in Delaware County or if county residents were involved. One of those killed was wearing a seatbelt and one was alcohol related, the figures show.

Press releases from the Philadelphia, King of Prussia and Skippack stations for the weekend showed plenty of crashes but none fatal, though it was unclear if it was a complete accounting of all the crash investigations. By Monday night, the Media station had no issued no information about any happenings from the weekend, with the most recent public information statement was dated Nov. 10.

There were a total 970 crashes covered by troopers statewide Nov. 23 through 27 with 196 reported injuries, according to the data. Of those, 48 were alcohol related.

Troop K had the highest number of crashes in the state with 125, according to the data. Four of those were alcohol related and 24 resulted in injuries.

Troopers also arrested 539 people for driving under the influence over the holiday weekend statewide. Troop K had 47 such arrests, tied for third-highest in the state.

Troopers additionally issued 27,000 traffic citations over the weekend, including 9,252 speeding citations, 1,088 citations for failing to wear a seat belt and 138 citations for not securing children in safety seats.
