Found body came from Philly homicide
A body dumped near the Darby Creek on Darby Crescent Road in Norwood in early November was from a homicide in Philadelphia, police said Monday.
Norwood police report that on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5:50 p.m. they responded to the Norwood section of Darby Crescent Road where they located a deceased male.
The body was found by a resident in the area that borders Prospect Park.
Police said it was apparent that the body was likely discarded at the location, and that was confirmed through investigation.
The victim was identified as Jimmy Reynolds Jr., who was listed as a missing person from North Philadelphia a week earlier.
An autopsy was conducted that concluded that Reynolds was stabbed multiple times and the manner of death was a homicide.
Through investigation, a suspect was developed along with a possible location of the homicide.
A search warrant was served in the 3700 block of North Darien Street in Philadelphia. As a result of that search warrant, investigators were able to confirm this was the location of the homicide.
Philadelphia Police Homicide Division has taken over the investigation into the murder and have charged 18-year-old Alicia Cruz of Philadelphia with murder, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime, tampering with evidence, obstruction and abuse of a corpse. She is being held in the Philadelphia correctional system without bail.
Norwood Police Chief Mark DelVecchio commended Cpl. Chris Kennedy along with Delaware County Detective Vinny Port and Detective Sgt. Larry Patterson, who he said worked nonstop on the investigation as well as assistance from the Philadelphia Task Force Office DEA Division.
