Maureen H. Kemble
Maureen Howard Kemble, age 66, of Newark, diagnosed with Glioblastoma, passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Maureen was born in Philadelphia, raised in Collingdale, PA; daughter of the late Mary (Roach) and James Howard. She graduated from Archbishop Prendergast (Prendie) High School and, via full scholarship, went on to get her Bachelors in Nursing from Neumann University and graduated Suma Cum Laude. Maureen started her nursing career at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park and worked in many different areas of the nursing field but spent her last 25 years as an Occupational Health Nurse at J.P Morgan Chase until her diagnosis.
Maureen was proud of her faith and was an active parishioner at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church and worked on their fundraising committee for many years. She was also a devoted member of the Delaware Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Maureen was fond of fashion and style, but, most of all, she loved to design and put on epic birthday parties for her children, whom she loved above all else along with her constant animal companion, her dog, Jada. When time allowed, she enjoyed playing the violin and was an expert calligrapher. In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Howard, and many aunts and uncles.
Maureen is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Joseph J. Kemble Jr.; daughter, Kellie Kemble of Newark; sons, Kyle Kemble of Newark and Kevin Kemble of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Luke Howard (Karen) of Reading, PA; Joseph Howard (Patty) of Folsom, PA; James Howard Jr. (Karen) of Newtown, PA; and Matthew Howard (Maryann) of Drexel Hill, PA; along with fourteen nieces and nephews and a wealth of numerous close friends, extended family and work colleagues whom she all loved and who will surely miss her.
A visitation for Maureen will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 5 to 7pm, and again on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805, from 10am to 11am, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11am. Burial will be held privately.
