Mark James Gorbey

Mark James Gorbey, age 66 of Lewes, DE, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer, on Monday, November 29, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 3, 1956, in Chester, PA, son of the late Frank and Betty Gorbey.

Mr. Gorbey graduated in 1974 from St. James High School in Chester, PA and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from West Chester University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Columbia College.

Mr. Gorbey worked for the US government as a postal inspector and in background investigations. On November 25 of 1988, he married the love of his life, Debra Peters, in Media, PA, and together they shared 34 years. Mr. Gorbey loved his wife and family and cherished time spent with them. He was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Debi Gorbey of Lewes; his daughters: Lori Gorbey of Baltimore, MD and Kara Shores (Alex) of Lewes; his granddaughters: Daisy and Violet Shores, both of Lewes; his siblings: Janis Miller (Tom) of Upper Saddle River, NJ and Frank Gorbey of Havertown, PA; his dog and best friend: Oats; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
