Wright-to-Mahan a memorable connection for Haverford

Tommy Wright, Haverford:
The senior quarterback had an incredible three-year run with the Fords. Wright was a team captain who earned All-Central League first team honors. He completed nearly 65percent of his passing attempts for 1,525 yards and 14 touchdowns this year. The 6-3, 205-pound dual threat also rushed for 536yards and seven TDs. Wright passed for 4,225yards and 45TDs and ran for 943yards and 12scores in roughly 2½ seasons as the Fords’ QB1. He is the 16th quarterback from Delaware County to throw for 4,000-plus yards in a career.
Ethan Mahan, Haverford:
The senior was one of the best wide receivers in Delco for two straight years. He set the Haverford single-season (12) and career (22) records for receiving touchdowns. In 2022, Mahan hauled in the most catches (64) of any player in Delco. His 812 yards and 12TDs were good for second in the county. Mahan will graduate from Haverford with the most receiving yards (1,661) in school history. He is committed to play baseball at Rhode Island.
Anthony Crawford, Strath Haven: The senior running back had an explosive season for the Panthers, who went 12-1and earned a share of the Central League championship. Crawford broke the school’s single-season rushing record with 2,087yards. His 3,029 career yardage is third and his 28touchdowns ranks second all time in Haven history. Crawford earned All-Central League honors as a running back and linebacker. He racked up 86 tackles, including 8.5for a loss. Cymeer Brown, Chester: The senior wide receiver was a game changer for the Clippers, who won their first Del Val League outright title in more than two decades and won a district playoff game for the first time. Brown led all county players in receiving yards (1,075) and touchdown catches (13). Both
are single-season school records. Brown’s 54receptions is a Chester record as well. He became only the 17th player in Delco history to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for a single season.
TJ Cadden, Episcopal Academy: Few players in the county had a bigger impact on his team’s success than the Churchmen’s senior athlete, who scored touchdowns five different ways and led them to a 9-1 record. A multi-purpose weapon, Cadden registered 49catches for 659 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 250yards and four TDs. Cadden, who amassed 1,527all-purpose yards, had two kick return TDs and returned two punts for scores. As a defensive back, Cadden had an interception return for touchdown, 31 total tackles and five pass breakups. He was named co-MVP of the Inter-Ac League.
Thaibri Rogers, Bonner & Prendergast: The senior tackle was the best offensive lineman on a stacked starting unit. The 6-5, 290pounder allowed only
one sack in 13games for a Friars offense that produced more than 2,100yards rushing on the season. Rogers’ dominance in the trenches earned him All-Catholic League recognition, while helping the Friars to go unbeaten in the Catholic League Blue Division, tying the school record for wins (11) and advancing to the PIAA Class 4A semifinals for the first time.
Matt Wiesendanger, Garnet Valley: The senior was the leader of an offensive line unit that paved the way for a run offense that averaged 288 yards per game. The 6-1, 230 pound Wiesendanger showed his versatility by playing guard, tackle and center this season. He also played every down as a defensive tackle. With Wiesendanger opening running lanes and stuffing opposing rushers, the Jaguars finished 13-1overall, captured their fifth straight Central League championship and won the District 1Class 6A title for a second year in a row.
Matt Pante, Haverford School:
The headliner of an outstanding offensive line, the 6-5, 285-pound senior played a vital role in helping the Fords to a perfect 10-0campaign. Behind the stellar blocking of Pante, the Fords managed better than 2,500yards of total offense in 10games en route to winning the Inter-Ac League title. An All-Inter-Ac selection, Pante is committed to Cornell.
Matt Galanaugh, Interboro: The senior tackle was the anchor of an offensive line unit that blocked for Abu Kamara, the Daily Times Player of the Year who broke Delco’s single- season rushing (2,823 yards) and touchdown (42) records. At 6-2, 215pounds, Galanaugh was a force in the trenches for the Bucs, who won the District 1Class 4A title and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the PIAA tournament. Galanaugh, who also excelled on the defensive line, was a first-team All-Del Val League selection.
Tyler Klambara, Springfield:
One of the most physically imposing players in Delco, the senior tackle dominated for the Cougars. He protected the blind side for senior quarterback Jake Rama, who set the program’s career passing record with 3,890 yards. Klambara’s performance on the offensive line enabled the Cougars to an eight-win season ending in the quarterfinal round of the District 1Class 5A playoffs. He also earned All-Delco honors in track and field last spring. An All-Central League honoree, Klambara recently committed to Army, where he will play football and throw for the track and field program. Na’Rome Rayborn, Episcopal Academy: The junior flourished in his first full season as the starting quarterback for the Churchmen. Rayborn completed an outstanding 69percent (102for 147) of his pass attempts for 1,558yards and 21touchdowns. On the ground Rayborn accrued 493 yards and nine TDs. While his quarterback responsibilities took him off the field on defense, Rayborn is also an outstanding defensive back at the varsity level. The 6-1, 180-pounder was selected to the All-Inter-Ac first team.
Austin Cannon, Bonner & Prendergast: The junior is best known for his exploits on the baseball diamond and an All-Delco last spring. Cannon emerged this year a standout as a blocking tight end and punter. He led the Catholic League with an average of 36.5yards per boot. He was named All-Catholic League first team for his performance as a specialist. Cannon also added 13catches for 185yards for the PCL Blue Division and District 12 Class 4A champions.
