Edgar Chandler
Edgar Chandler of Media (92), a retired electrical engineer for General Electric died on December 25, 2022.
Born January 5th, 1930 in Schenectady, New York, Mr. Chandler was a graduate of Union College and received his Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan. He was an electrical engineer for General Electric for 37 years, working for GE’s Knoll’s Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady prior to being transferred to GE’s Philadelphia Switchgear plant where he was awarded three patents.
Mr. Chandler had been a member of Media Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed his home and working in the yard, playing tennis, and spending time with his grandchildren including attending their athletic events. He and his wife helped distribute meals on wheels and served as ushers and counters at Media Presbyterian Church. They both enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States, as well as traveling on cruises and tours in Alaska, Europe, and Australia. Every summer he looked forward to the annual “Chandler Family Reunion” vacation on Lake George.
Ed was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn, who passed away in 2016. He is survived by three daughters, Ellen Brookhart (Dan) of Lancaster, PA, Joyce Zandee (Jim) of Canton, MI, and Kathy DeWitt (Jim) of West Chester, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Sarah Brookhart Snead (Ryan), Michael Brookhart (Cristina), Matthew Zandee (Estee), Rachel Lykins (Zach), Bethany DeWitt (Kenny Smith), and Steven DeWitt, as well as three great grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Media Presbyterian Church.
