Upper Darby rallies late to pin Penncrest

Nathan O’Donnell and Jacob Fredrick provided the Upper Darby wrestling team with a dramatic Central League win Wednesday.

Trailing by six points with two bouts to go, O’Donnell (133 pounds) won the penultimat­e match by pin, and Fredrick (139) followed with a pin in the final match as the Royals rallied for a 39-34 triumph over Penncrest.

Edward Toll wrestled to a 10-7 decision in the 160-pound match for the Royals, who benefited from four wins by forfeit.

Dylan DeJong began the meet with a 15-2 major decision at 145 for the Lions. Noah Reed (172), Liam Stauffer (189), Chase Worley (114), Andrew Bostwick (121) and Shane Worley (127) all won by pin.

GARNET VALLEY 38, SPRINGFIEL­D 31 »

Nolan Carroll (120), Ethan Bliss (132), Paxton Hunt (138) and Dylan Bledsoe (285) won by fall for the Jaguars. Mason Troy (126) and Matt Mesaros (160) each won by major decision.

Tommy Rush cruised to a 17-3 major decision at 152 pounds for the Cougars. Matthew Klein won by fall in 20 seconds at 172.

Boys Basketball

Chris Kwaidah’s 24-point performanc­e powered Sun Valley to a 56-34 win over Delco Christian.

Noah Griffin added 11 points and Bucky Grayston had eight for the Vanguards, who outscored the Knights, 34-18, in the second half.

Caleb Jameson scored 16 points, including four 3-point field goals, for Delco Christian.

Girls Basketball

Keara McCaffery tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks to help Sacred Heart Academy beat Lower Moreland, 39-24.

Megan Donohue had seven points and Maddie Campbell recorded six points off the bench for the Lions.
