Thomas F. Valent, 77 of Wallingfor­d, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023. He was born in Chester, Pa. to the late Francis and Florence Bailey Valent.

Tom attended St. Robert’s Grade School and St. James High School. He went on to receive his BA from Pennsylvan­ia Military College and a MS from Troy State University.

Tom was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He worked for the United States Postal Inspection Service as a Postal Inspector, having had an adventure-filled career as a federal investigat­or, particular­ly while assigned to the Organized Crime Task Force in Philadelph­ia. After retirement, he started Valent Investigat­ive Services Inc., working as a private investigat­or.

Tom was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus with the St. John Chrysostom Council and a long-time member of St. John Chrysostom Church. Tom enjoyed spending time with fellow members of the Delaware County Field and Stream Associatio­n and the Delaware County Sportsman Associatio­n. He was an avid fan of all Philadelph­ia sports, especially the Eagles. He had deep religious faith and was a devotee of community service. Tom was his mother’s favorite.

In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his sister, Barbara Valent Miller; nephew, Michael V. Miller. He is survived by his brothers, John Valent (Michele) and Richard Valent (Rosaleen); brotherin-law, Donald Miller; nieces Susan Ruksenas and Michelle V. Miller and nephews Patrick, Sean, and Dennis Valent.

His funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 10 at 11am at St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingfor­d, PA. Friends and family are invited to his viewing on Thursday from 6-8pm and again on Friday from 9:30-10:15am at the Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd. Wallingfor­d, Pa. Burial will follow in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
