Fireworks displays

• The Norwood Citizens’ Fourth of July Associatio­n invites the community to enjoy fireworks on the evening of Monday, July 3 at Norwood’s lower park. Fireworks will begin at dusk. School of

Rock will perform from 7to 9 p.m. in the park prior to the fireworks.

• The Clifton Heights Business Associatio­n and the Clifton Heights Fourth of July Associatio­n will hold their annual fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4in Clifton Heights Field. The gates will open at 7 p.m. The rain date for fireworks is Saturday, July 8.

• Other communitie­s in Delaware County offering fireworks are: Bethel Township, Monday, July 3 at dusk; and Aston Township, Tuesday, July 4at dusk.

Celebrate the 4th

Colonial Pennsylvan­ia Plantation is inviting guests to the Newtown Square site on July 4to celebrate our nation’s birthday. Activities at the farm include hearth cooking, paper making, quill writing, toys and games, garden, textiles, and meet the animals and more, the plantation said. The farm is open from 11a.m. to 4p.m. with last admission at 3p.m. The location is 3900N. Sandy Flash Drive, Newtown Square, between Ridley Creek State Park and Route 3, which is West Chester Pike. The cost is $12for adults, $8 for children and seniors age 65 and older, and $5 for members. Visitors are welcome to bring a lawn/folding chair and water bottles, the plantation said. Events:

• 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.: King’s Taxes

• Noon and 2p.m.: Reading from Paine’s “Common Sense.”

• 12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.: Conversati­on between neighbors and reading of the Declaratio­n of Independen­ce.

• 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.: Signing of the Declaratio­n of Independen­ce

County job fairs

Delaware County will host three career fairs this summer for a large number of open full-time positions.

They will be:

• Wednesday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each of the fairs will be held at the Delaware County Intermedia­te Unit, 200Yale Ave., Morton, in Rooms 150-151.

Multiple department­s are looking to hire, including Human Services, IT, Health and Personnel; along with the George W. Hill Correction­al Facility, Fair Acres, Park Police and the Bureau of Elections,

Positions offer competitiv­e employee benefits as well as opportunit­ies for advancemen­t. Interested applicants are advised to bring copies of their resume and will have the opportunit­y to apply in person during the fair. On-site interviews may be held for qualified attendees. Attendees will have an opportunit­y to meet the Recruitmen­t Team to discuss open positions to gain a better understand­ing of the job duties and the benefits offered, and have the team review their resume and skill set to determine if they are a candidate for that position, or a different position that might be a better match.

‘Arts in the Park’

As part of the Friends of Glen Providence Park’s annual events, the 2023 free “Arts in the Park” monthly performanc­e series on Saturday nights in Media, has announced its summer lineup:

• On July 15, The Johns, an acoustic traditiona­l blues duo with Johnny Never on guitar and John-Colgan Davis on harmonica, will play new and vintage blues.

• On Aug. 12, “Gong with the Didge” will take the audience on a sacred and meditative journey in sound with instrument­s from around the world, including didgeridoo, gongs, conch shells, Vibraphone and percussion.

• On Sept. 16, entertainm­ent will be by Brian Kors and Lone Star Revue, a fun band that draws inspiratio­n from the many threads of roots music that flowed from places like New Orleans, Memphis and more.

A crab feast: featuring all-youcan-eat steamed crabs, barbecue chicken, hot dogs, mac and cheese, baked beans, corn on the cob, cornbread and dessert will be held, 1-4p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6at the Ballroom at Bethel Fire house, 3737Foulk Road, Garnet Valley. Sponsored by the Upper Chichester Library, the $65ticket for this third annual crab feast fundraiser can only be purchased at the library, 3374 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, either by cash or credit/debit card. The John Heinz National

Wildlife Refuge: in Tinicum Township will host a free family fishing day noon to 3p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10at the site, 8601 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelph­ia. No fishing license is required. Volunteers will help visitors hook their first fish. Rods and bait will be available for loan or visitors can bring their own.

Delaware County Victim Assistance Center: has been providing services to victims of sexual assault and to their significan­t others since 1974. The nonprofit depends on the support of volunteers to assist meeting the needs of clients 24 hours a day. Services to victims include hospital/police interview accompanim­ent, and telephone crisis interventi­on. Volunteers receive a 40-hour training to prepare them for their responsibi­lities and are asked to provide support at least twice a month for an evening or weekend shift. Delaware County Victim Assistance Center: also offers free and confidenti­al counseling in person and through a 24-hour hotline to victims of sexual assault. The agency provides medical, police and court accompanim­ent. It also facilitate­s support groups for adult survivors of sexual abuse, adult rape survivors, and teen survivors of sexual assault. Trips The Briarcliff­e Senior Travel Club is planning:

• A trip to Caesars Casino in Atlantic City on Thursday, Aug. 24to see the show, “Dance to the Movies,” starring “Dancing With The Stars” celebrity profession­als, “So You Think You Can Dance” top finalist, “America’s Got Talent” aerialist, and singing stars from “American Idol” and “The Voice”.
