Hneleski wins girls title at Catholic League Golf Championships
Cardinal O’Hara’s Ava Hneleski shot an 87 Wednesday at Jeffersonville Golf Club, good enough for a Catholic League championship finish.
The Lions’ regular golfer bested the female field after finishing as the girls’ runnerup in last season’s competition. Other finishers included Nazareth Academy’s Adrianna Seravilli and Casey Stone, who shot 91 and 93, respectively, in leading Nazareth to a girls team title.
Other local finishers included Archbishop Carroll’s Matt Hurchella and Jake Johnson, both finishing plus-9 (79), and O’Hara’s Brendan Till, coming in at 10-over. La Salle College High School placed in seven of the top eight boys spots to easily win the team title. La Salle’s league champ was Ethan Martin at plus-1 (71).
Carroll finished fourth overall in the boys team competition.
Field Hockey
Saylor Milone scored four times and Maeve Seeger had a pair of goals as Notre Dame Academy defeated BonnerPrendie, 9-0.
Maeve McGinley assisted on a Reese Milone goal while Seeger assisted on one by Kiera Sack.
Saylor Milone also had an assist on a Mia McCloskey goal. McCloskey was in net in the first half, making one save.

Abby Kucera had two goals and three assists to lead the Lions.
Other goals were scored Emma Donnelly, Julia Schlegel, Claire Wylie, Dani Jeffries and Caitlin Kennedy. SHA goalie Julia Zelahy made three saves.
Freshman goalie Cara Schaffer tallied 18 saves for the Pandas.

Volleyball
In a classic five-game Central League match, Garnet Valley posted a pair of victories in the last two games to win 3-2 over Lower Merion.
Alicia Higgins had 43 assists and seven aces along the way, and Regan Hill had 21 kills as GV won by 25-23, 18-25, 15-25, 25-16 and 15-13.
Abigail MacMillan had 15 kills and Cara Furchner had 11.

Adrianna Roach registered 16 kills and Maddy Bachovchin had 18 assists and 10 digs.
Lilly Kirkpatrick had 11 digs and two aces in game wins of 25-18, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-20.
Tennis
Kamora Helton and Carter Yearley took straight set singles victories to help lead Episcopal Academy to a 4-1 victory over Lawrenceville.
EA’s Izzy Rozes and Olivia Olson and Michelle Jiang and Natalie Jiang took doubles victories, that latter match being decided 10-8 in the third set.
Theresa Stolarczyk, Sophia Bora and Sophia Carrey won all singles matches in straight sets as O’Hara went to 10-1 overall.
In doubles, O’Hara Allison Kirby and Martha Coffey defeated Springfield’s Cora Fattori and Jules Govan in a tough one, 5-7, 6-3 and 10-4. The Lions’ doubles team of Kayla Stewart and Busayo Lawal also won.

Boys Soccer
Cortez Cardone scored twice to help Delco Christian to a 4-0 win over Jenkintown. Other goals were scored by Brecon Williams and Judah Cooper, both of whom also had assists, as the Knights went to 6-2-1.
