Hockenbroc­k hits 1,000th in PSU-Brandywine win

Colin Hockenbroc­k tallied his 1,000th career point as Penn StateBrand­ywine topped PSU-Schuylkill, 65-57, on Saturday.

Hockenbroc­k scored 15 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocks. He needed 12 points entering the game and got the milestone point with 6:03 left to become the eighth player in program history to hit quadruple digits.

Casey Caruso came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers to lead the Delco Lions (5-10, 5-5 PSUAC) with 17 points. Johnta Dunson added 15 points.

Jaron Fairweathe­r and Zubair Lee filled up the score sheet to lead the Eagles (125, 4-2 MAC Commonweal­th). Fairweathe­r scored 17 points to go with five rebounds and six assists. Lee scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished five assists. Kevin Reeves (Cardinal O’Hara) was 4-for-4 from the field for nine points.

Howie Rankine, Anthony DiCaro and Mike Kane scored 14 points each as the Pride (15-2, 5-1 MAC Commonweal­th) led by 15 points at half and never looked back.

Kevin Schenk tossed in 11 points. Steven Matlack added 10. Dominic Dunn had nine points and seven rebounds.

Michael Caprise and Aidan Godfrey scored 13 points each, and Swarthmore (10-7, 7-3 Centennial) turned up the defense early in limiting the Red Devils to six made baskets and 18 points in the first half.

Caprise added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Eddie Paquette paired 10 points with 11 boards. Vinny DeAngelo (Sun Valley All-Delco) tallied 10 points and six rebounds.

Aarick Salta came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers for a team-high 15 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Cavs (6-12, 2-3 Atlantic East). Eric Neal paired 13 points with three steals. Jayden Blakey scored 11 points, and Bryan Warren had 10.

Gaven Marr scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, but the rest of the Fords offense struggled. Ali Kaan Bek added eight points for Haverford (4-13, 1-9 Centennial).

John Seidman (Haverford High All-Delco) was one of five Diplomats starters in double-figures with 13 points.

Women’s Basketball

Aubrie Breisblatt scored 12 points in just 13 minutes as Neumann had 11 players score in an 80-38 rout of PSU-Berks.

Lauren Kleiber, Jacqueline Wardrop and Emily DuPont tallied 10 points each, DuPont adding nine boards and four assists. The Knights (13-6) led 31-6 after one quarter thanks to 16 points off turnovers in the opening frame. Neumann shot 35-for-68 (51.5 percent) from the field and had 25 assists.

Kiara Koger scored eight of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, the Delco Lions starting the final frame with a 9-0 run to put down the visitors’ resistance.

Amanda Floyd (Interboro) led Brandywine with 20 points, plus seven rebounds and four steals. Koger added eight boards and four assists.

Athena Brombacher posted a double-double of 11 point and 12 rebounds, plus six steals. Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (10 points, six rebounds) and Interboro grad Sierra Diawara (11 points, seven rebounds) turned in productive days off the bench for PSUB (7-8, 6-4

PSUAC).

Mia Robbins and

Jordan D’Ambrosio accounted for all 19 of Widener’s fourthquar­ter points, but a free throw by Albright’s CJ Apistar with five seconds left allowed the Lions to escape Chester with a win.

Robbins (22 points, 12 rebounds) scored Widener’s first 12 points of the fourth. Springfiel­d All-Delco D’Ambrosio had the last seven. She paired 21 points with eight rebounds and three steals. Lindsay Kutz added nine points and 12 rebounds for the Pride (13-4, 3-3 MAC Commonweal­th)

Taryn Woodson posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, but the Eagles couldn’t nudge ahead in a tight fourth quarter against a Messiah side unbeaten in the league.

Wynter Bess also scored 11 points. Miranda Liebtag tossed in 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Eagles (7-9, 3-3 MAC Commonweal­th).

Ally Landau scored all 18 of her points in the second half in a game where the teams combined for just 10 points in the first quarter, but the Fords didn’t have enough to get the win in Lancaster.

Shae Mercer scored 11 points off the bench for the Fords (6-10, 3-8 Centennial), who shot just 16-for-54 (29.6 percent) from the field.

Molly Mascianton­io (Archbishop Carroll All-Delco) collected eight points, five rebounds and four assists, but La Salle’s fourpoint halftime lead was quickly blasted away by VCU’s 26-9 margin in the third quarter.

Makayla Miller led La Salle (6-12, 3-4 Atlantic 10) with 16 points. Tiara Bolden supplied 11 points off the bench.

Freshman Mataya Gayle scored 13 of her 19 points in the first half, but the Quakers (10-7, 2-2 Ivy) were outscored 1912 in the final 10 minutes to shortcircu­it any comeback attempts in Cambridge. Gayle corralled seven rebounds. Jordan Obi paired 15 points with 10 boards.

Dana Bandurick tallied 13 points, eight rebound and four steals, but Swat (7-9, 5-6 Centennial) never quite recovered from a 12-point deficit after 10 minutes. Emily Smith chipped
