Shoplifting calls, a disturbance at the Marriott, and more crime
Theft:
About 5 p.m. a resident reported his bicycle stolen from the parking lot of the Giant in the 900 block Baltimore Pike. The bike had been secured to a tree near the fence line.
Shoplifting: Two subjects were stopped by Macy’s security just before 8p.m. for stealing Lego sets and a re-useable bag, totaling close to $350. A male, 36 and female, 45, from Philadelphia were taken into custody and charged with retail theft. The female was found to have an arrest warrant from Philadelphia. Both were held for arraignment.
A 41-year-old male from Wilmington will be charged with public drunkenness after causing a disturbance about 11:30 p.m. at the Marriott Springfield Country Club on West Sproul Road. He had been attending an
Public drunkenness:
event at the club and then went to the hotel intoxicated. He refused to leave when asked by hotel staff. He eventually was taken by a friend. Charges will be filed.
JAN. 31
Drugs: A 56 year-old male from Media will be charged with drug offenses after he failed to stop for a posted stop sign on Leamy Avenue at Bennett Road just after 11 a.m. and was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
FEB. 2
Underage drinking:
A 15-year-old male from Springfield will be charged with underage drinking after being found in possession of numerous cans of an alcoholic beverage at 10:11 p.m. on Claremont Road.
FEB. 3
DUI: A vehicle was stopped by police on the 1400 block Baltimore
Pike just before 11 p.m. for an equipment violation of tinted windows. The driver, a 42-year-old Philadelphia man, was found to be intoxicated and a suspended operator. He was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. He was later released to family and will be charged with DUI.
Drug arrest: Officers went to Macy’s at 4:23 p.m. to investigate a subject in their custody with nearly $1,500 in stolen clothing. The male was found to also be in possession of a large amount of heroin and stolen personal checks from Philadelphia. Rasheed Smith, 30, Philadelphia, was charged with retail theft and drug offenses and held for arraignment.
