John E. “Jack” Curren, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Ocean View, DE.

Jack was raised in Chester, PA and was a graduate of Chester High School. Jack proudly served his country in the US Army and received a letter of commendati­on from the President for being part of the State Funeral detail conducted for President John F. Kennedy from November 22-26, 1963. Jack loved the City of Chester and honorably wore the badge as an officer of the Chester Police Department, retiring after 25 years of service to the City. He was a member of the William Penn F.O.P. Lodge #19, where he served as their Chaplain for many years.

Jack was a dedicated Boy Scout Troop Leader with troop #126 in Mays Landing, NJ where his son was an Eagle Scout. Jack was an enthusiast­ic storytelle­r, he loved capturing memories with his camera, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, bowling, and most of all, he loved being a father.

Jack was the son of the late Herman and C. Jane (Spaeth) Curren and brother of the late Donald, Lawrence, and Myerl Curren.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Peyreferry) Curren, his 4 children: Jeannie Manapat, Jacki Hostetter (Brad), Jude Curren (Kelly), and Meagan Acquarola (Nick), his sister: Deanie Steeley, and 7 grandchild­ren: Jennifer Curren, Hannah and Blake Hostetter, Lily, Emma, and Brynn Acquarola, and Knight Curren and his great-grandson Justin Rogers.

Jack’s visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 5:30-7:30pm and Friday Feb. 16, 2024 from 9:30-10:30am at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA. Funeral Liturgy and Military detail: Friday, Feb.16th at 11:00am at the Funeral Home. Burial: Private.
