Maria Saccomandi (nee Muzzulini)

Maria Saccomandi (nee Muzzulini), born October 12th, 1924, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on February 2, 2024. She was born in Billerio Italy, Providence of Udine to the late Rita Giuseppe along with one sister Luisa Cravagna.

Maria was a loving wife to her husband John C Saccomandi who she first met while working as a seamstress in a Nazi War Camp. Her future husband was an American Solider that freed her war camp and brought his future wife to the United States after the war in 1948 where they raised their family.

Maria attended Bilerio High School in Italy and attended Trade School to become a Seamstress.

Although Maria was a United States citizen by marriage, she also studied and passed the test to become a Naturalize­d citizen; an accomplish­ment that made her very proud.

Maria was a loving mother to her four children, William, John, Raymond, and Rita. She was very attentive to her husband, children and grandchild­ren and was careful to sow her values and work ethic into their lives. She instilled the seeds of faith, diligence, and respect for others in her family.

After the passing of her husband John in 1975 Maria became a strong matriarch to her family.

Maria’s hobbies included gardening which she loved as well as taking care of her flower beds. Being a seamstress by trade she also enjoyed completing alteration­s for the neighborho­od.

Maria leaves a legacy of love, kindness, integrity, and dedication to her large and loving family. She will be deeply missed.

Maria is survived by her three of four children: William Saccomandi (Joan Lawson) of Wallingfor­d, PA, John Saccomandi, Jr, (Donna) of Brookhaven, PA, Raymond Saccomandi (Allyson) of Wilmington, DE. Five grandchild­ren: Tyler Saccomandi, Oliva Saccomandi, Adam Saccomandi, John Saccommand­i III and Victoria Priest; two great grandchild­ren Giuliana Priest and Rocco Priest; Sister Luisa Cravagna of Cava de Pereil Italy; niece Chinzia Cravagna and Walter Cravanga of Tarvisio Italy as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John; and her daughter Rita Saccomandi.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 17 th, 2024 at St John’s Chrysostom Catholic Church 617 S Providence Road, Wallingfor­d, PA. Family and friends received in church from 10:0010:45. Burial in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery 1600 Sproul Road, Springfiel­d, PA 19064
