‘Great American Trailer Park Musical’ coming to Spotlight

Chairman of Sharon Bank retires, new chairman announced

SWARTHMORE » Spotlight Theatre will present “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” March 8 to 17 at 129 Park Ave., Swarthmore. The show will run evenings at 8 p.m., with select matinee at 3 p.m.

As spring fever washes over Delaware County, the audience will take a bluesy-rock excursion into Armadillo Acres, North Florida’s most exclusive Trailer Park. Watch how things start to take a turn for Jeannie, an agoraphobi­c, Dr. Phil-loving housewife, and her toll-collecting husband when the exotic dancer, Pippi, becomes Armadillo Acre’s newest tenant and wreaks havoc throughout the community, and Jeannie’s marriage.

A talented cast delivers a live musical experience full of laughs, upbeat musical numbers, and memorable moments. Anyone who comes dressed in their best trailer-parkthemed costume will have a chance to win a prize.

“The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” is directed by Joe Ward and choreograp­hed by Mariah Rose. The music and lyrics are by David Nehls. Based on the book by Betsy Kelso, ”The Great American Trailer Park Musical” is presented by special arrangemen­t with Broadway Licensing LLC.

St. Madeline offers healing prayers with Padre Pio’s glove

St. Madeline Church, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park, will present speaker Paul Walsh in “The Miracle Story of Padre Pio and Paul Walsh,” at 7 p.m. Monday, March 11. Walsh is miraculous­ly alive and thriving today, due to the divine interventi­on of St. Pio of Pietrelcin­a, more commonly known as Padre Pio.

Following Walsh’s talk, the church will have healing prayers with St. Pio’s glove. Everyone is welcome.

Lansdowne Library presents authors’ series, senior activities

The Lansdowne Public Library is partnering with the Neighbors Club to present an Authors Series on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m., once a month for presentati­ons from local authors.

The library is launching a new social hour for seniors called Daytimers. The Daytimers will be offered twice a month on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. There will be unique guided crafts and activities at each session.

Sharon Bank, and its other holding company entities, announced this week that, after many years of loyal service, Chairman Charles D. Marvil Jr. has retired from the Board of Trustees/Directors of each entity.

Marvil stated, “It has been my privilege to serve as Chairman of the Board of Sharon Bank, as my father and grandfathe­r before me. I have been proud to witness first-hand a small local bank’s growth, from a town that has been so important to my family.”

The bank, and its other holding company entities, also announced that current Vice Chairman Frank DePaolo has been elected to succeed Marvil as chairman of each board and that current trustee/director Hugh Gillespie has been elected to succeed DePaolo as vice chairman of each board.

In addition, Jennifer Marvil has been elected to each board of Trustees/Directors. Marvil is a longtime Delaware County resident, who earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from Cabrini University in Radnor and currently serves as the vice president of Marvil Funeral Home Ltd.

DePaolo stated, “On behalf of the entire board, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Chuck Marvil for his wise and dedicated leadership. He will be sorely missed. I am pleased to take on the role of chairman and continue working with new Vice Chairman Gillespie, as well as the entire board and management team. I’m also pleased to welcome Ms. Marvil to the boards and believe that her acute business acumen and local community ties will greatly contribute to the continued success of Sharon Bank.”

Celebrate National Cereal Day at Middletown Library

It’s National Cereal Day and Middletown Free Library, 464 S. Old Middletown Road, Middletown Township, plans to celebrate with a “cereal swap,” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7.

Cereal lovers are invited to bring their own bowl, and a box of your favorite cereal to share with others. Attendees can sample a bunch of different cereals and chat with other cereal fans, as well as design and color their own cereal box and make jewelry out of a variety of cereal loops.

The library will provide spoons, skim milk, 2% milk, and almond milk. There will be a limited number of

disposable bowls in case anyone forgets their own.

Garden Club of Springfiel­d welcomes new members

The Garden Club of Springfiel­d recently welcomed four new members to the club: Mary Ellen Mulhern of Media, Jean Shannon of Havertown, Karen Smith of Secane and Cheryl Forte of Collingdal­e.

It’s not necessary to be a resident of Springfiel­d to attend a program or become a club member.
