‘Jersey Shore’ star in­dicted for as­sault

One of the stars of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” has been in­dicted for an as­sault that pros­e­cu­tors say hap­pened just off cam­era dur­ing the first sea­son.

A grand jury in Ocean County, N.J., says there’s ev­i­dence that Ron­ald “Ron­nie” Or­tiz-Ma­gro com­mit­ted a crime.

The in­dict­ment was is­sued Thurs­day and made pub­lic Fri­day.

The grand jury said the 25year-old re­al­ity TV star knocked a man out with a punch Sept. 4, 2009, when the show was be­ing filmed in Sea­side Heights. While the punch wasn’t shown on the show, Or­tiz-Ma­gro was seen brag­ging about it.

Pros­e­cu­tors told The As­bury Park Press they hoped to re­solve the case with­out an in­dict­ment.

No lawyer is listed for Or­tiz- Ma­gro. MTV pub­li­cists did not im­me­di­ately re­spond to re­quests for com­ment Satur­day.

Deputies in­ves­ti­gate theft from Jer­maine Jack­son’s home

Sher­iff’s de­tec­tives say they are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the re­ported theft of $192,000 in jew­elry and lug­gage from Jer­maine Jack­son. Michael’s Jack­son’s older brother re­ported the theft of watches, rings and other jew­elry af­ter re­turn­ing to South­ern Cal­i­for­nia from a vacation in mid-Septem­ber.

De­tec­tives say there are no sus­pects and no clear leads.

Au­thor­i­ties say Jack­son and his wife no­ticed the items were missing Sept. 18 and re­al­ized that one of the doors of their Cal­abasas home had been left un­locked.
