Wright State honors Parent of the Year
Dispatchers divided into three groups
Miami County’s Communication Center will change the way its dispatchers handle communications with safety personnel across the county.
The reconfiguration of the dispatch set up was approved by the Communication Center board that oversees the countywide handling of calls for 911 and nonemergency communication with police, fire and emergency medical services. The change is to occur around March 1.
Center Director Jeff Busch said the change was proposed to reduce dispatcher multitasking, which can include reading the computer aided dispatch screen and listening to up to six radio talk groups. The set up will have a dispatcher for fire and emergency medical services; a dispatcher for dispatching police and officer traffic; and a dispatcher for nonemergency traffic (requests for tow trucks, for example) for police.
Wright State University’s Parent of the Year Award was presented to Bobbi Warrington, mother of student government vice president Nick Warrington.
In nominating his mother for the award, Nick said she is “superhero” because she has worked three jobs since he was in high school, but still found time to be by his side, support his interests and encourage him to dream big.
A four-member committee of Wright State staff members reviews the nominations, which include a 500-word essay.
Warrington was honored Feb. 12 during the Parents & Family Weekend Breakfast.
