Parent fight locks down elementary

-

Grafton Kennedy Elementary School was hosting a community picnic today when two female parents entered into a shouting match outside of the building.

David Jackson, Northridge Local Schools superintendent, was at the picnic when the incident began. He said the women started cussing at each other and threatening one another.

Police were called, and Grafton Kennedy Principal Jennifer Schmidlapp put the school on lockdown until the police arrived.

“The principal decided it was better to be safe than sorry,” said Jackson, noting he did not know of any previous trouble with these women.

Jackson said the police took statements and nobody was arrested. He said the lockdown lasted about 10 minutes.

Grafton Kennedy is at 2655 Wagner Ford Road in Dayton. HUBER HEIGHTS —

Heat Nightclub’s liquor license has been placed on indefinite suspension by the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for unpaid sales taxes.

But according to manager Jessica Kennedy, the Huber Heights nightclub still is open for business.

“They’re not suspended. I’m operating,” said Kennedy, who declined further comment.

There have not been any payments or payment arrangements made as of Thursday afternoon, according to the Attorney General’s office. Heat Nightclub had until noon Monday, May 28, to do so before the indefinite suspension began.

The nightclub’s tax obligations need to be taken care of before the liquor permit renewal and transfer application are approved, according to Liquor Control Commission executive director Jackie Williams.

As of April 13, Heat Nightclub owed $3,291.54 in sales tax, but that number would have increased as the nightclub continued to operate, Williams said. A
