Prosecutors doing the responsible thing

-

Re “Public pays for theme park trip,” May 20: This article was an unwarranted hatchet job on the prosecutors. They are professionals who often have to work nights and weekends because criminals don’t just operate during the business day. Given this aspect of their jobs, they should be applauded for wanting to spend time with their families at a family-oriented location.

They also should have been commended for choosing an Ohio location, so that the money they spend on training stays in Ohio and helps keep Ohioans employed. This not only helps those employed at Cedar Point, but others throughout Ohio, as the prosecutors drive to the meeting and spend dollars along the way.

The manner in which the article tried to sensationalize this event would have made one think that they had spent big bucks on airline tickets to Las Vegas. Instead, the prosecutors showed restraint and responsibility in scheduling the training in Ohio.

Also, the criticism of the time allowed for networking was groundless. Although I am not an attorney, I have been at many conferences in my own field where the networking with others was just as important in learning best practices as were the formal education sessions.

VICTORIA CASHMAN,

This is part of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act and it’s for sure Anthem wouldn’t do it if it weren’t well paid for it. It’s a pilot program for the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative with longterm benefits for patients and lower costs to insurers overall.

It’s our duty to educate our children from our school levies. They will use this education all their lives; education must come first. If they want to play sports, they can get a part-time job or find another way to make money to pay the fees to play sports.
