Dozens indicted in drug ring
State and local officials have announced the indictment of dozens of people in connection with a large-scale drug ring operating in a small town south of Columbus.
Authorities said Wednesday in Circleville — about 30 miles south of Columbus — that 17 people were indicted on drugtrafficking charges, and 54 more were charged with possessing heroin or cocaine or both.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office and Pickaway County officials said the group operated the ring by transporting heroin and cocaine from Columbus for distribution in Circleville from August 2010 to December 2014.
Investigators say those supervising the group made about $40,000 per month selling drugs.
Of the 17 suspects facing trafficking charges, 11 also are charged with a felony count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
