The phase-in of a 1:1 program began this year with the roll-out of 3,000 Chromebooks to students in grades 3-12.
The 1:1 program will be in full operation for the 2015-16 school year with the purchase of additional Chromebooks for second-graders, as well as the addition of Android tablets for students in kindergarten and first grade.
The 1:1 program will touch every student in the district, including students with disabilities and students with English as a Second Language (ESL). An integral part of the district’s grant application included concrete ways in which the achievement of these two subgroups would improve as a result of the introduction of the new hardware and software into the curriculum.
Kettering partnered with the Montgomery County Educational Services Center in the “Straight A” grant, and students enrolled in programs at the ESC are also benefiting from the addition of new technology.
