Meijer starts hiring for dairy factory

-

Meijer officials announced last week they have started hiring for the retailer’s new dairy in Tipp City and will also add positions to its adjacent distribution center.

The positions at the dairy are full time, and some experience in a fastpaced food and/or manufacturing environment is helpful for applicants, Meijer said in a release. The distribution center openings are for parttime positions that may lead to full-time employment. The center employs about 800 people, a Meijer spokesman said Thursday.

Ground was broken in June for the $100 million, 105,000-square-foot dairy production facility and refrigerated warehouse space adjacent to the existing 1.7 million-squarefoot Meijer Distribution Center at 4200 S. County Road 25A. Meijer officials say the dairy production facility will help the company deliver higherquality products faster to stores across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

Potential applicants are required to begin the hiring process by applying online at jobs.meijer.com. Meijer representatives will conduct phone interviews during the next few weeks, company officials said. Maxx declined to comment Thursday. T.J. Maxx operates two Dayton-area locations, in Austin Landing in Miami Twp. and near the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek. A T.J. Maxx store at the Dayton Mall closed in October 2013 in conjunction with the opening of the Austin Landing store less than three miles away.
