The Human Race Theatre Company has announced a new season of plays that represent what Producing Artistic Director Kevin Moore refers to as the “four wells of programming.” They are titles, he says, that are “well-known, wellloved, well-reviewed and well respected.”

“Selecting the ‘perfect season’ is the goal of every artistic director,” says Moore, who explains that his choices for the upcoming season have been influenced by face-to-face conversations as well as audience surveys. “They provide challenging material for our current audience as well as an enticement for new audiences,” he says.

The theater, founded in 1986, is in residence at the Loft Theatre in downtown Dayton. It’s faced some recent financial challenges and Moore said the consultancy with Strategic Leadership Associates is continuing.

“It would be premature of me to talk about details at this point,” he said. “However, our current financial position is vastly stronger than it was at the top of the season, thanks to a number of generous donors and the hard work and sacrifices by The Human Race staff.”

A rundown of the season

The 2015–16 Eichelberger Loft season opens with Terrence McNally and David Yazbek’s musical adaptation of the film “The Full Monty” (Sept. 10 – Oct. 4, 2015); followed by Robert Harling’s “Steel Magnolias” (Nov. 5 –29). The Race will produce Tennessee Williams’ classic “The Glass Menagerie” (Feb. 4 – 21, 2016); comedian Lewis Black’s wedding day farce “One Slight Hitch” (April 7 – 24, 2016); and will end with another McNally play, the Tony Award-winning “Master Class” ( June 9 – 26, 2016).
