Voss Toyota celebrated 25 years of being in business on June 15 with a small ceremony, but next month it will do so in a big way — through a major renovation that will make customers more comfortable and the facility more convenient.

Toyota representatives were on hand to present principal owner John Voss with a crystal anniversary award at the dealership, located at 2110 Heller Drive, Beavercreek. Voss Toyota had its start on Main Street in Dayton, then moved to its current site 23 years ago.

Voss attributed the dealership’s success and longevity to its almost 50 employees and the quality of Toyota vehicles. His sons, Craig Voss and Brad Voss, recently became minority owners of the dealership, which is part of the ninefranchise Voss Auto Network. It sells and services new and previously owned automobiles at Voss BMW, Voss Village Cadillac, Voss Chevrolet, Voss Honda, Voss Hyundai, Land Rover Dayton, Voss Scion, Voss Toyota Scion and Joe Morgan Honda. Voss Collision Centres and Voss Executive Detail Center complete the network, which is part of the Centerville, Beavercreek, Monroe and Tipp City communities.

Toyota’s lineup always has been popular, Voss said. “It’s a great car, and it’s something that consistently ranks high.

“It’s a great tribute to the Voss Auto Network to even be able to have Toyota. We’re very proud of our employees and their successes,” he said.

Rob George, Voss Toyota general manager, has been with Voss for 15 years and said it’s the Voss Auto Network’s integrity

Rob George, Voss Toyota Scion general manager; Craig Voss, minority owner of Voss Toyota Scion; John Voss, principal owner of Voss Toyota Scion and the Voss Auto Network; Brad Voss, minority owner of Voss Toyota Scion; Greg Stout, chief financial officer, Voss Auto Network; and the Voss “Hoss” celebrated Voss Toyota’s 25th anniversary at its Beavercreek location on June 15. that customers and employees alike respond to. Two employees, Larry Pulliam, parts manager, and Dave Rittner, master service technician, have worked for the dealership as long as it’s been owned by Voss.

George said construction focused on upgrading the showroom, customer waiting area and service bays is slated to begin next month and will take about six months to complete.

The showroom will be gutted and expanded, and will see new furniture in the lounge area and a computer bar added. “It will be a lot more comfortable and a lot more customer-friendly than what we have now,” he said.

Several delivery bays will be added so customers may take delivery of their purchase while being sheltered from the elements. Additional service bays will be constructed, too. The expansion will call for additional salespeople and service technicians to be hired.

George pointed to Toyota’s popular product line as part of the impetus behind the renovations. “The Camry has been on top for 13 consecutive years and is about to enter its 14th year,” he said. “We also have hybrids like the long-standing Prius.”

He also pointed to Toyota’s truck line, including the incoming totally redesigned Tundra. His comment resonated with Sam Wintermyer, assistant general manager of the Toyota region covering Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee, who was on hand for the celebration.

Light trucks including pickups, crossovers and sport-utility vehicles, are particularly popular in the Dayton area due to gas prices being lower now, Wintermyer said.

“When gas prices stay under $3, we see the SUV people stepping up to that midsize segment instead of passenger cars, so we’re seeing a lot of growth in small and midsize SUVs,” he said.

He said the automaker was pleased Voss Toyota reached the quarter century mark.

“We’re glad to have a partner like the Voss organization here in Dayton and we look forward to another 25 years working with them,” Wintermyer said.
