‘True Detective’ returns with new cast, location

HBO crime mystery series moves to Southern California.

“True Detective” — Talk about a wildly difficult task: How do you deliver a fresh crime mystery that can live up to last year’s sensationa­l saga? A new cast, which includes Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch, will give it a go as the setting shifts to Southern California. It’s there that a bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcemen­t officers and a money-hungry mobster. 9 p.m. Sunday, HBO.

Are you ready for “Celebrity Family Feud”? Host Steve Harvey gives us a new twist on the old game show as famous folks and their families compete against each other for charity. 8 p.m., ABC.

Nearly 40 years after “Poldark” became one of the earliest “Masterpiec­e” hits, a swashbuckl­ing new version arrives. Aidan Turner plays the dashing squire Ross Poldark, and original star Robin Ellis appears as the Rev. Halse. 9 p.m., PBS.

“BOOM!” is an explosive new game show that challenges players to defuse phony “bombs” by answering trivia questions within a strict time limit. A wrong move and they get splattered with some mystery goop. 8 p.m., Fox.

Will “Under the Dome” get any more ludicrous and unintentio­nally funny? We can only dream. The residents of Chester’s Mill continue their misadventu­res tonight. 9 p.m., CBS.

“A Country Wedding” is a film about a country-music star who returns to his hometown to sell the house he grew up in. Once there, he reconnects and with a childhood friend and — you guessed it — some old feelings resurface. 9 p.m., Hallmark.
