Reindeer games kick off holiday break for school
Northeast Ohio high school gets into holiday spirit.
Four teams of 12 students, tethered together, made their way over a large obstacle while holding hot chocolate Friday afternoon as Reindeer Games invaded the Pymatuning Valley High School Gymnasium.
Three months of planning came together as students, teachers and administrators got into the holiday spirit, dressing in a variety of Christmas sweaters, wigs and even a full Santa Claus suit during the fourth rendition of the Reindeer Games.
“It’s your job to make sure you don’t get shaving cream on the gym floor,” said Amy Moyer, student council advisor, who helped make the event possible as she gathered more than 20 student council representatives in the gym.
As the students, tied together, made their way across the gymnasium it became clear there was an art form to the event and the seniors came together for the victory.
The event also included contests in between the games as well as videos that featured students with Christmas music.
Moyer said planning is important because there is some “down time” between events.
“There is a lot of plan, plan, plan (right at the end). It is like a wedding,” she said.
“We’ve been planning this since October,” said sophomore student council representative Paige Sloan.
Sloan said they put together four games for the students.
“All (the student council representatives) have a homeroom together ... and we have meetings after school,” she said.
