The Master Agreement between the Board of Education and the Vandalia-Butler Education Associatio­n (VBEA) runs for three years through June 30, 2020.

The contract will include a pay raise as apart of the three-year contract.

The base salary of the contract for certificat­ed staff, or teachers, was set at $37,853 which represents a 2.9 percent increase over the previous agreement.

The base salary will increase two percent annually in each of the final two years of the contract.

The salary schedule increases with experience and education, as the base salary is is the entry salary of a teacher with a bachelor’s degree and no years of experience.

The new contract also adds an attendance bonus for teachers and staff. The incentive will

The city of Moraine will be accepting prescripti­on drugs in pill form this morning as part of National Prescripti­on Drug TakeBack Day.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Moraine Police Division will be accepting the drugs as part of an effort to provide a safe, convenient, and responsibl­e means of disposing of prescripti­on drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medication­s.

If you have a prescripti­on that is a liquid, the city suggests putting it in an absorbent material to dispose of it. Items can be dropped off at the Moraine Municipal Building, 4200 Dryden Road.

Montgomery County has opened enrollment for Mini University in the county administra­tion building at 451 W. Third St., which is now a PreSchool Promise location and offers preschool services to 4 year olds in the City of Dayton and Montgomery County.

Each of the preschool and pre-K classrooms has a teacher with a degree in Early Childhood Education, the county wrote on its Facebook page. Each classroom also offers:

Washington Twp. will host a Family Adventure Day from 1-4 p.m. today at the Washington Twp. Recreation Campus.

Activities include learning to kayak in the pool, scaling a 24-foot climbing wall, archery and fire-building, learning to cast a fishing poll and climbing trees. There will also be a scavenger hunt at Countrysid­e Park.

Registrati­on is not required. Cost is $10 per family up to five members and $2 for each additional member.
