Don’t let his love of the trading card game “Magic The Gathering” fool you.

Ken Battiston is an avid player of the popular card game, but based on looks alone, chances are the 6 foot, 1 inch, 207-pound hunk from Troy is pretty good at athletics, too.

The 29-year-old CrossFit athlete will compete on an episode of the TV show “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge” set to air Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The CMT show is hosted by actor and former WWF wrestler “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Each episode of “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge” brings a group of eight contestants, either all men or all women, to the Broken Skull Ranch to compete in a series of physical challenges. Athletes are selected from a range of backgrounds including CrossFit, mixed martial arts, wrestling, Spartan racers, Tough Mudders and more.

CMT considers “Broken Skull Challenge” a fan favorite.

An average of 2 million people watched the show weekly during its fourth season. The most recent season started Sept. 26.

From West Milton, Battiston, a co-owner of Crossfit Skyfall in Springboro, attended Eastern Michigan University, according to his profiles on websites for the gym’s and Redline Gear.

While interning for the strength and conditioning pro- gram at Eastern Michigan University, Battiston became passionate about his field of study. In 2011 Battiston started personally training a variety of clients, soon leading to his Level 1 CrossFit Certification and becoming a CrossFit trainer. During the 2013 and 2014 Battiston competed in the Central East CrossFit Regionals.

After the creation of the National Pro Grid League (NPGL) Battiston was drafted to the DC Brawlers team. Battiston was able to help lead the DC Brawlers to the 2014 & 2015 NPGL Champions. Contact this reporter at 937225-2384 or email Amelia. Robinson@coxinc.com.
