Kiwanis Club names president
Marcia Copeland Hudson is the new president of the Kettering-Centerville Kiwanis Club.
“Kids need Kiwanis,” said Copeland Hudson. “It’s not just a slogan,” she added. Hudson, along with members of the club’s board of directors, are teaming up to identify new service projects for the club, which focuses on the needs of children in Kettering and Centerville.
“The club’s current projects range from reading to kindergartners at a Kettering school to providing scholarships to students at area high schools including Fairmont High School and Bishop Alter High School (both in Kettering), Centerville High School, and the Dayton Regional STEM School,” Hudson said.
In addition, Hudson said, under her leadership the club will continue its efforts to reach younger potential members with a less-formal “happy hour” meeting held in various area locations on the third Thursday of the month. In an effort to provide time for projects and discussions, the club will also vary the agenda for its meeting on the third Thursday each month.
Hudson, a media relations professional, made her remarks after being installed as the club’s president October 12 at Kettering’s Kohler Center. Other officers of the club were installed earlier: vice-president, Craig Tickel; treasurer, Kevin Hagstrom; assistant treasurer, Gary Gravette; secretary, Ralph Daniels; assistant secretary, Larry Hudson.
