3 ways to experience ‘A Christmas Story’ locally

The actual “A Christmas Story” house might be in Cleveland, but Ralphie Parker and his Red Ryder B.B. gun will be all over the Gem City this holiday season.

Below are three ways the holiday classic movie “A Christmas Story” will be celebrated in the Dayton area this year — so don’t shoot your eye out, kid.

“A Christmas Story” trivia

When: 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6

Where: The Wandering Griffin, 3725 Presidenti­al Drive, Beavercree­k

What to expect: Three rounds of trivia about the 1980s movie set in the 1940s. A $10 prize will be given to the winner of each round. There is a $25 grand prize, plus best costume contest for individual­s and teams.

Cost: Admission is free. Teams of four or more are asked to call 937-956-5216 to make reservatio­ns.

“A Christmas Story” on the big screen

When: 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7; 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10; 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, and 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21.

Where: The Plaza Theatre, 33 S. Main St., Miamisburg

What to expect: What says Christmast­ime louder than watching Flick get his tongue struck to a frozen pole on the big screen.

“A Christmas Story” the play

When: Dec. 12-17. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday.

Where: Victoria Theatre, 138 N. Main St., Dayton

What to expect: The entirety of 9-year-old Ralphie Parker’s epic quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas is staged during the production, including his dad’s major award.
