Muse choreographer contributes to ‘Mudbound’
Thornton Wilder’s “The Matchmaker,” has been chosen as the 34th annual Muse Machine musical. Slated Jan. 11-14, 2018, at the Victoria Theatre, the production will be led by the artistic team of producer Douglas Merk, choreographer Lula Elzy and director Joe Deer. Noah Berry joins no promises in Beavercreek
Muse Machine alum and Oakwood High School graduate Noah Berry, on break from the national tour of “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,” will join regional a cappella troupe No Promises’ jazz-infused holiday concert Thursday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, 250 N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek. There is free admission but a freewill donation will be accepted.

WSU Motion Pictures alumna Hannah Beachler, Emmy-nominated for her work on Beyonce’s “Lemonade,” will discuss her career and participate in a meet and greet Monday, Dec. 4 at 3 p. m.intheFestival Playhouse of the Creative Arts Center. Beachler, who grew up in Centerville, served as production designer of the upcoming Marvel movie “Black Panther” in addition to last year’s Academy Award-winning Best Picture “Moonlight.” She is bringing the Art Director’s Guild Award for Production Design, which she won for “Lemonade.” She intends to give theawardtotheMotion Pictures Area in a special ceremony honoring the late Carol Trevino, a WSU Motion Pictures alumna who passed aw ayin a car accident in 2007 while on location in Louisiana. Trevino’s family will be on hand for the presentation.
A special student-produced local premiere of Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori’s acclaimed 2014 Pulitzer Prize-nominated and 2015 Tony-winning musical “Fun Home” is slated Sunday, Dec. 10, and Monday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. in the Director’s La bo f the Creative Arts Center. Based on Alison Bechdel 2006 graphic memoir of the same name, the humorous and thought-provoking coming-of-age tale will be directed by Megan Valle, seen rece ntly a s Golde in “Fiddler on the Roof.” Free admission.
Joe Deer, Wright State University distinguished professor of musical theater and direc torofthe Musical Theatre Initiative, has been named Chair of WSU’s Department of Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures. He will begin his role in January.
