Long-awaited brewery and pub opens Hamilton location
The long-awaited Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub opened Wednesday at 103 Main St. in Hamilton.
The restaurant, which has a location at 107 E. Church St. in Oxford, offers craft beers, a diverse wine selection and a varied menu that includes traditional American “up-casual bistro pub fare” and comfort food, with nightly specials.
“In the beginning, the menu will be the same as Oxford, featuring local steak and burgers as well as Armenian lavosh, a cracker based, thin-crust entree,” owner Brandon Ney told this media outlet. “We have three of our popular beers that we have brewed in Oxford available at the soft open, including our gold medal winning Grisette, Chapeau Gris.”
A grand opening is planned as soon as Quarter Barrel’s serving tanks are full, which should be in approximately three weeks.
The new Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub features something to look forward to once warmer temperatures arrive: Rooftop dining overlooking the Great Miami River and Hamilton’s downtown.
Ney said said the building at the southwest corner of Main and B Streets is “a premier location” for such a venture.
Hiring continues for the new location. Those who wish to apply may email a resume and availability to qbhiring@gmail.com.
Flores Leather works transforms
Flores Leather Works closed its downtown Middletown storefront but will live on online.
Owners Eber and Rebekah Flores started the business in a basement, then moved to a studio in the Pendleton Art Center before opening a storefront location at 1050 Central Ave. in 2015.
The closure came as the business has shifted and picked up numerous manufacturing work and wholesale accounts.
“While we are very excited about this transition & the future of Flores Leather Works, it is bittersweet to leave our store,” the couple wrote via Flores Leather Works’ Facebook page. “Downtown Middletown has been amazing to us and for us and we greatly appreciate all the love & support we have been shown.”
Flores Leather Works will continue to produce and sell bags, jewelry, holsters and other leather goods, fulfill orders as normal and update its website at www. floresleatherworks.com.
Downtown Middletown Inc. said news of the storefront’s closing made for “a bittersweet day.”
“They certainly are a Downtown Middletown small business success story, continuously growing and evolving their business,” the nonprofit organization said via its Facebook page.
