‘Dietland’ explores host of women’s issues

- By Chuck Barney

Don’t miss: “Dietland” — Based on the celebrated novel by Sarai Walker, this darkly comedic series follows Plum Kettle ( Joy Nash), who ghostwrites an advice column for a vain editor ( Julianna Margulies) at one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines. Struggling with her self-image and fed up with how she’s treated by society, Plum sets out on a wildly complicated road to personal fulfillment. Equal parts revenge fantasy and heartfelt tale of selfdiscovery, “Dietland” explores a host of issues faced by today’s women, including patriarchy, misogyny, rape culture and unrealistic beauty standards. (9 p.m. Monday, AMC).
