The Dayton VA Medical Center has named Dr. Jennifer DeFrancesco as the facility’ s new associated ire cto ref ff ff ff ff ff fe ct ive May 27. Dr. DeFrancesco has served as acting associate director since May 1, 2017. The Dayton VAMC’s previous associate director, Mark Murdock, was promoted to head of the Chillicothe VAMC. The associate director oversees 11 department heads, including the chiefs of pharmacy, prosthetics, engineering, fifiscal service, human resources, and the Dayton VAMCPolice Department.
Prior to becoming acting associate director at the Dayton VAMC, DeFrancesco served as chief biomedical engineer for the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 serving Indiana, Michigan andOhio. Her duties included coordinating biomedical engineering and healthcare technology management initiatives across the VISN.
DeFrancesco’s VA career has included assignments as the chief of biomedical engineering at the Indianapolis VAMC, chief of biomedical engineering at the Richmond VAMC, and VISN 11 lead biomedical engineer.
DeFrancesco holds a doctorate in health administration and a master of science in biomedical engineering.
MontgomeryCounty Prosecuting AttorneyMat Heck, Jr., announced that Nathaniel Peterson has been appointed to the position of assistant Montgomery County prosecuting attorney.
Peterson received his law degree f rom the Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island in 2014. He received his undergrad degree fromthe University of Maine in Orono, Maine in 2011, majoring in political science and history. Nathaniel passed the California State Bar Examin July 2014 and he practiced law there in the private sector. He passed the Ohio State Bar Exam in February 2016.
Petersonwill be assigned to the Civil Division of the Prosecutor’ s Off iffi ce. The Civil Division is the legal adviser to all county boards, county agencies, county elected off ifficials, and township trustees, boards, and commissions.
DMAX, Ltd., has recently appointed Takashi Sadaoka as president.
Sadaoka will manage the Duramax Diesel Engine Plant located in Moraine. DMAXis home to the proven Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel engine used in the Chevrolet Silverado andGMCSierra heavy duty pickup trucks.
With 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, Sadaoka started with IsuzuMotors Limited at their headquarters in Tokyo, in April 1983. He worked his way up through various management positions inthe Isuzu International Service and Parts Sales Divisions, and wasmost recently vice president of their Aftersales Division in Thailand.
Sadaoka replaces Shinichi Suzuki, who led the diesel engine plant since August 2013. Suzuki will be returning to Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan.
DMAX also announced plant manager Pat Curtis has been appointed as the Chief Operating Offifficer (COO) by the DMAX Board ofDirectors. He will become an offifficer of the company andbecomeamember of the management team, which will be comprised of the CEO, CFOand nowtheCOO.
Curtis has been at the Moraine engineplant forone year. He started his 33-year career with the Packard Electric Division of General Motors and worked at both GeneralMotors and Delphi at ni ned if ff ff ff ff ff fe rent locations within the U.S. and Canada. He has experiences in engineering, maintenance, quality, business development, and manufacturing.
Curtis holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in manufacturing management fromGeneral Motors Institute (now Kettering University).
Haven Behavioral Hospital of Dayton has announced the promotion of KellyWaggy fromutilization reviewmanger to director of assessment and utilization.
Waggy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Dayton and a Master of Arts degree inclinical psychology from Gan non University. She began her career at Haven in the Intake Department before being promoted to the utilization review manager. Prior to Haven, she worked as a mental health technician in inpatient psychology, and then as a crisis support specialist and advocate for domestic violence victims at theYWCA. Waggy was also a permanent supportive housing manager at Places, helping provide stable housing for individuals with chronic mental illness.
