Evan Ivory began his position as the new West Carrollton athletic director on July 1. Ivory received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University where he majored in sport management and minored in business administration. He earned his master’s degree in sport administration from Xavier University. Why West Carrollton?
I grew up in the area and always felt West Carrollton had a strong athletic program and a lot of community involvement. Running a successful program takes commitment from both parents and athletes, and I’m looking forward to working with both. How do you feel you can increase student and community involvement with the athletic program?
I’ll be attending at least one practice for each sport during the year, and I’m looking forward to meeting all of the Pirate athletes. I’ve already met with the athletic booster president, and I am meeting with the coaches for each sport to determine what we can do better.
We will be increasing our social media presence to keep everyone informed about athletic achievements and events. We will be having meetings where kids can meet coaches and find out more about team and individual sports.
One of the most important things will be getting the right coaches in the right spots and creating opportunities where kids want to be. It’s going to be an exciting year to be a Pirate.
