Mercy DEERFIELD TWP. — Health-Cincinnati broke ground Tuesday on a new $14 million medical office complex in one of Warren County’s fastest-growing communities.

The 26,500-square-foot facility is slated to open by summer 2019 in Deerfield Twp. at the District at Deerfield, a $140 million mixeduse development planned for the southwest corner of Mason-Montgomery Road and Parkway Drive that will feature 95,000 square feet of street-level retail, restaurant and entertainment space, plus 362 apartments.

Mike Garfield, Mercy Health-Cincinnati’s CEO and senior vice president, said the medical office complex in the District will have “a convenient, easily accessible” location for residents and more than 500 Mercy Health area employees and their families to see primary and specialty care doctors and have diagnostic services.

While Mercy Health has approximately 175 access points throughout Southwest Ohio, “nothing’s more important than what we’re doing today” and growth in the Mason and Deerfield Twp. area is “huge,” Garfield said.

The medical office complex will house primary and specialty care practices, and have 36 exam rooms, Garfield said. Within the first year of operation, Mercy Health intends to offer extended hours at the complex’s primary care practices, including evenings and Saturdays. The primary care practices will accommodate walk-in patients for urgent medical needs.

In addition to primary care providers, the location will also house cardiology, women’s health services and general surgery practices, he said. Mercy Health will offer diagnostic services on site, including lab draws, X-ray, MRI, mammography, ultrasound and cardiopulmonary testing.

“We have seen businesses and

residents grow so much here in Warren County that we just want more of a presence on our mission here,” he said. “We’ve been established for 160 years, and we’re setting the stage for many, many more.”

Groundbreaking on the site Tuesday means keeping up with Mercy Health-Cin- cinnati’s No. 1 market share within the region, which is 29.6 percent and growing, Garfield said.

Mercy Health expects the location to open in the summer of 2019 with eight full-time providers and can grow to accommodate additional providers in the future, according to Pat Davis-Ha- gens, Central market pres- ident and CEO.

“Working together, we are making our vision a reality to provide patients in this community with accessible, exceptional care under one roof,” Davis-Hagens said.

At its start, approximately 40 employees will staff the medical complex, which Mercy Health could expand to add further services in the future, she said.

Mercy Health also is look- ing to other areas around Mercy Health-Cincinnati CEO Warren County in which to construct a facility similar to the one being constructed in Deerfield Twp., Davis-Hagens said.

The new medical complex will be not only an anchor for the new District at Deerfield development but also an asset that Deerfield Twp. will be proud to have, said Jim Flick, Deerfield Twp.’s director of economic development.

“Anytime a company like Mercy Health makes a commitment such as this to a community, it’s a big deal,” Flick said. “When completed, this development will bring more vibrancy and amenities to help us attract and retain employers, as well as our residents.”

‘We’ve been established for 160 years, and we’re setting the stage for many, many more.’
